AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo Police Department reports that a club on Amarillo Boulevard has been shut down following “numerous citizen complaints.”

According to APD, on Sunday, officers investigated a club at 2206 Amarillo Boulevard East.

APD said it has received numerous complaints from citizens about the “after hours” club being a hangout for people “engaged in the sale of drugs, possession of weapons, and the illegal sale of alcohol, including alcohol that is served to minors up to 12 years”.

According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, the business owner violated city Fire Code 6310 Certificate of Fire-Free Occupancy 503 2000 IFC 102.3.

APD officers, the Proactive Crime Enforcement Unit and the Amarillo Fire Marshall’s office found 25 people inside the club Sunday and turned away about 100 people during the time officers were on scene.

APD said the owner was cited, the business was closed and signs were posted informing the owner and the public that the business was in violation and would be closed until the issue was resolved.
