The after-hours club was closed for violating the city’s fire code

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – An after-hours club has been shut down after an Amarillo Police Department investigation revealed a violation of the city’s fire code.

According to a news release, the Amarillo Police Department investigated the after-hours club located at 2206 East Amarillo Boulevard.

Amarillo police have received numerous complaints about the business being a local hangout for people involved in drug sales, gun possession and illegal alcohol sales. Officials say alcohol was served to minors as young as 12 years old.

The Amarillo Police Department contacted the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office for information on the condition of the occupant of the building.

The Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed that there is no record of a certificate of occupancy for the building. They advised that the person operating the business would be in violation of City Fire Code 6310, without a certificate of occupancy.

On June 16, at 2:40 a.m., APD officers entered the building to find 25 people inside. More than 100 people were turned away while officers were at the location.

According to a press release, the owner of the building was cited and the business was closed. Signs have been posted informing the owner and the public that the business is in violation and will be closed until the problem is fixed.
