Village leaders ban head coverings such as ski masks, balaclava and bandanas.

They say people use the covers with malicious intent, such as to hide or disguise their identity.

“We are seeing a local and national trend of malicious individuals using protective face masks such as ski masks, balaclava or bandanas to conceal or disguise their identity,” police said. “The Lake in the Hills Police Department believes that our residents, community members and event attendees will support updated safety and security measures at future events that will benefit the overall protection of their families and the community as a whole. “

Masks used for health reasons will be allowed.

Rib Fest runs July 11-14 at Sunset Park.
