Patrick Dangerfield dangerous tackle on Sam Walsh, video, Carlton Blues v Geelong Cats, match review officer, suspension, ban, latest news

Cats skipper Patrick Dangerfield is in “trouble” for a dangerous tackle on Blues star Sam Walsh in Friday night’s clash at the MCG.

Dangerfield, playing in his first game back since Round 7 due to ongoing issues, in the opening minute of Friday’s game shoved Walsh to the ground with his arms locked, giving away a free kick.

While Walsh managed to play unscathed, the act is likely to be under the microscope by the match review officer.

Fox Footy pundits feared Dangerfield could be suspended,

“It’s got all the makings of trouble for Danger, both arms are locked in there,” Demons legend Garry Lyon told Fox Footy.

Tigers champion Jack Riewoldt added: “That’s a problem for me, both arms are trapped and he’s dropped his body weight.”

Former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley meanwhile believes it will be a “matter of how much contact (MRO) has had with the ground”.

“The impact will be low because Sam Walsh has continued to play,” added Buckley.

Geelong play Essendon, Hawthorn and Collingwood over the next three weeks.
