Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Announces Centennial Celebration Events |  WKZO |  All of Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts turns 100 in July.

KIA announced free events for the month thanks to the support of donors Jim and Carol Carter, the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, PNC Bank, The Santreece Foundation and Warner, Norcoss + Judd LLP.

Free admission includes exhibitions, scheduled programming and special events.

The shows are the 2024 West Michigan Area Show; Distinctly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass; and The Anniversary Show: Promised Gifts from the Joy and Timothy Light Collection.

This month’s programming is ArtBreak: West Michigan Area Show Artist Spotlight from noon to 1 pm on July 9; KIA Centenary Community Day from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July 13; Silent Book Club from 1pm to 3pm, July 13, 20 and 27; book discussion “Self-Portrait Without Nothing” by Aimee Pokwatka on July 17, 2 p.m.; Art Night: Indigenous Art and Activism from 6pm to 7pm on July 18; and ArtBreak: Glass Art with Ekin Deniz Aytac and Joshua Davids from noon to 1 p.m., July 23.

KIA will also be doing a membership drive in July and offering 14 months of membership for the price of 12 months. Current members who renew their membership in July will receive the same offer.
