Will we ever see Conor McGregor in the Octagon again? Does Khamzat Chimaev have the ability to beat the likes of Israel Adesanya, Leon Edwards and Dricus Du Plessis?

Swedish UFC light heavyweight veteran Alexander Gustafsson has a dire warning for Michael Chandler since the McGregor fight fell through. He also believes that despite his shortcomings, Khamzat Chimaev can become a two-weight world champion, defeating the likes of Israel Adesanya, Leon Edwards and Dricus Du Plessis.

Speaking to Crypto Betting Sites, Gustafsson said:

  • Michael Chandler should move on from McGregor; we will never see the same McGregor again
  • Mike Perry is a tough opponent and won’t let Jake Paul breathe
  • Chimaev is very ill but will still beat the likes of Adesanya, Edwards and Du Plessis
  • I can’t see anyone beating Tom Aspinall now, he’s up for Jon Jones!
  • Tom Aspinall and Leon Edwards shouldn’t over-analyze the early start in Manchester – they should just enjoy it
  • Alex Pereira is a beast, but Jiri Prochazka will win the rematch
  • I don’t see Stipe Miocic beating Jon Jones
  • I want to fight in the UFC again and take the belt, I feel the fire in my belly again!

Michael Chandler should move on from McGregor; we will never see the same McGregor again

“I think Michael Chandler should fight someone else. He has been waiting for some time, he has his career to think about. I think he should let that fight with Conor go and get other fights that make sense for him.

“It’s not good to be inactive, you want to stay active, you want to be in the ring and feel fresh in your body. To stay competitive you have to maintain (cage time).

“I don’t know if we’ll see the same McGregor again, but I’d love to see him fight again. I hope they fight again, but there’s a lot going on. Conor can take anyone down, but I think Chandler is too hungry to be beaten by Conor right now.

“It looks like there will only ever be one Conor McGregor and I haven’t seen anyone come close to him when it comes to what he does. He is a marketing genius.”

Mike Paul is a tough opponent, he won’t let Jake Paul breathe

”Mike Perry is wild, he’s a great pressure fighter and he’s right in front of you. Don’t let yourself breathe, that’s the kind of fighter. He’ll mess you up, he’s a tough guy, and he really found his martial art as a competitor in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship – he crushes everyone.

“Jake Paul has proven he can box, he’s done well, he’s a hard puncher but it’s a fight that could go either way but probably won’t go the distance. ”

Chimaev is very ill but will still beat the likes of Adesanya, Edwards and Du Plessis

”The guy is getting sick. There’s something about his body that reacts to hard training because he’s the hardest worker in the room, he’s always been the hardest worker. He needs to do some testing and see what the background is, if there is something in his body that is reacting to the hard training because he is training really hard. I hope they find what it is and deal with the problem and he gets better.

“For example, he catches cold very easily – runny nose, cough, symptoms that are no big deal, we all understand that. But I’ve seen when he really increases his training, I know his body reacts differently to training. I don’t know where it comes from. It’s crazy how he reacts to training these days.

“I can’t even imagine how frustrated he is, I know he’s not feeling well at all. He is sick, very sick. Not only that, it’s the mental part. You have a big fight ahead of you, it’s the big card in Saudi Arabia and it’s all on you, then this shit happens.

“He’s going through tough times right now, but I know the guy, he’ll come back stronger and deal with it. When Khamzat is Khamzat, he beats them all – Leon (Edwards), Israel (Adesanya) and Dricus (Du Plessis).

“He trains so hard, it’s inhuman the way he trains. But his illness isn’t because he’s overtraining, that’s a whole different level of illness.

Tom Aspinall and Leon Edwards shouldn’t overthink the early start for UFC Manchester, they should just enjoy it

“Everyone reacts differently to fights in the early hours of the morning. I did the last part of the camp in the early hours, at the same time I was going to fight.

“I would have an early evening session and then an early morning session. Your body and mind get used to working during those hours. It was a bit of a struggle at first, but you get used to it.

“When I went in, I didn’t think about it at all. It was a crazy atmosphere. It was packed, 4am and it was packed, it was one of the biggest stages in Sweden. It was an unreal experience because no one thought we would fill the arena with fans at that time of the morning.

“Everyone was going crazy, it was a surreal and amazing experience. The moment brought something different in a strange way. You felt it – it was no ordinary fight night – people were on fire, they were crazy, it was special.

“My short advice to Tom (Aspinall) and Leon (Edwards) is don’t over analyze it, it is what it is. Just take advantage of it and act like you’re training at your regular time.”

Alex Pereira is a beast, but Jiri Prochazka will win the rematch

“Someone is eliminated. I have a feeling Jiri might win this, but who knows. Someone is eliminated. Jiri has one more chance, I think he will learn from the defeat and come back stronger. Due to the knockout loss, he didn’t have time to prove that he was done so early, but I expect him to be stronger this time. He has a point to prove and I think the only thing on his mind right now is to prove that he can beat him. But Alex is a beast, he touches and you go down. ”

I can’t see anyone beating Tom Aspinall now, he’s up for Jon Jones!

”Aspinall is on fire right now and he’s a very, very good heavyweight. I don’t see anyone beating Aspinall now. I understand why Tom wants to fight Jon, because Jon is the GOAT, he is the biggest star in the UFC right now. If Tom were to beat Jon, it would be bigger than winning any UFC belt. My biggest accomplishment in the UFC right now is beating Jon Jones. I can see why Aspinall is watching the fight. I think he’s ready for Jon. It’s on fire right now. If he’s fighting Jon Jones, it should be now.

“Yeah, I think Tom will be too much for Jon. He has all the weapons to defeat Jon. Jon hasn’t been as active, but he’s still the GOAT. You can never count this guy out, he’s so good at what he does. He’s handled every opponent and everyone knows how good he is, but Aspinall now, I see him as very dangerous for Jon right now. He’s dangerous on the feet, he’s quick, he’s got great footwork and he’s a smart tackler. He has the tools to do well against Jon and even beat him. If they are going to fight, now is Aspinall’s time. He could go down as one of the best heavyweights in history.”

I don’t see Stipe Miocic beating Jon Jones

”It’s hard to see Stipe beating Jones. I like Stipe a lot, he’s a big heavyweight, but it’s hard to see him beating Jones. Stipe has done more than most heavyweights in the division, but it’s hard for me to see Stipe beating Jones.”

I want to fight in the UFC again and take the belt, I feel the fire in my belly again!

”I don’t close any doors, if I get an offer I get an offer and we take it from there. The life I live now, it wouldn’t take long for me to adjust and get back into fighting mode. I’m still in the game, still training with the pro team. What I really want now is to feel that hunger again to compete and go to camp and go to hell and back. I need to feel that fire in my body, that feeling of wanting to go to hell and back to prepare myself physically and mentally. This is nothing new to me, I’ve been doing it for 15 years and I was so close to getting that belt. I really want to feel the fire again. I’ll take any fight, I’ve been out for so long.”
