“Iron” and “The Notorious” officially began their rivalry in 2023 during the filming of The Ultimate Fighter 31, where the fighters trained a team against each other. The Irish mixed martial artist has claimed it will indeed be the biggest comeback yet as he returns to the Octagon after a three-year hiatus. Left without a fight, the former Bellator champion has expressed his desire to fight for the UFC’s BMF title. He recently sent out a few posts on X that outlined his intentions regarding his upcoming matches. The first post he shared read, “Well done. Mike. Foxtrot.” Just minutes later, the mixed martial artist shared another tweet.

This time the post had a picture of a gladiator with Chandler’s face photoshopped onto it. The text below the Chandler gladiator reads: “AREN’T YOU FUNNY?”, apparently pointing to the disappointment of fight fans with his big fight scrapped from the schedule. Needless to say, the caption of the tweet stated his interest in getting the BMF belt as he wrote“Man blessed forever.”

Not long ago, UFC CEO, in an interview with Jim Rome, sympathized with “Iron”. Even though he seemed to think Chandler wanted to wait for McGregor, White was open letting the fighter have any fight that he wanted this summer. He said“I think poor Chandler wants to wait for Conor McGregor and whatever he wants to do. If he wants to fight this summer, we’ll do whatever he wants. He’s one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever worked with, he’s a good human being and I like him a lot. Whatever he wants to do, we’ll figure it out for him.” Within days, Chandler followed White’s advice.

The fighter might get a chance and redeem himself with the BMF fight, don’t you think? But Chandler’s desperation was reflected in another instance when he recorded a video of himself promising to be present at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas for UFC 303. Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

“Iron” promises to be there for UFC 303

Netizens and wrestling fans went into a frenzy when Chandler’s video crossed the thresholds of social media platforms. But what exactly did he say? Even though his fight with “Mystic Mac” was replaced with the fight between Alex Pereira and Jiri ProchazkaChandler argued that The UFC 303 title fight was still his book. “It’s my card. I was my card every time I signed the fight agreement, I signed my name on the piece of paper that said I’m going to be at UFC 303.”

The three-time Bellator lightweight champion then said he made a promise to himself and committed to the event. Even if he was no longer a competitor, the fans would not miss his presence in the arena. He reasoned that his word was his bond. Now that his desperation has dissipated, with sights set on the BMF belt, the fight community could witness a showdown between Chandler and current UFC BMF, Max Holloway.
