Lightning caught on camera in downtown Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 22News viewer sent video as thunder and lightning rolled through the area again Thursday night.

Justin Maynard took this video from behind the police station on Worthington Street in Springfield.

The 22News Storm Team Weather Alert continues for excessive heat and the threat of severe to severe thunderstorms.

A heat advisory remains in effect for Hampden and Hampshire counties until Friday evening at 7 p.m., with heat index values ​​around 95 to 105 degrees.

Friday will be another warm and humid day, but not as warm as the last few days. Temperatures will climb around 90 degrees this afternoon and it will be very humid. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Some storms can produce very heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and frequent lightning.
