Robert Noaker secured the pole position for Saturday’s first Mustang Challenge race at Watkins Glen, beating Tyler Maxson in qualifying.

Noaker drove Ford Mustang Dark Horse R no. 13 in a best lap of 2:00.210, edging Robert Noaker Racing stablemate Tyler Maxson by 0.127 seconds.

Maxson, who claimed the top spot in the inaugural series at Mid-Ohio earlier this month, set the early pace during the 15-minute session.

Ford no. 74 set a 2:00.466 to take the early lead, only for the no. Noaker’s 13 to improve and jump to the top of the scoresheets.

While Maxson was able to improve by posting a 2:00.337, it was not enough to prevent Noaker from securing pole position.

Thursday enthusiast Max Opalski took the third row, next to the Ford no. 31 of Reid Sweeney, also from the Robert Noaker Racing stable.

Jeremy Fletcher rounded out the top five in the no. 31 McCumbee McAleer Racing, ahead of teammate Nate Cicero and the no. 26 led by Sam Paley.

Alex Bachoura took the pole in the Dark Horse Legends class in eighth place overall, driving the No. 1 Spark Performance Ford. 33 with a best time of 2:02.506.

In the process, he passed both Brandon Gdovic and Gabe Tesch, who rounded out the overall leaderboard for Precision Performance Motorsports and MDK Motorsports, respectively.

The first Mustang Challenge race of the weekend begins at 3:15 PM EDT, with live coverage on the Ford Performance YouTube channel.
