“We thank Bill as a co-founder and for his 14 years of service and wish him nothing but success in the future,” read a statement attributed to “Verve management.” The agency also confirmed that Weinstein’s role as CEO will not be filled, but rather “shared by the founders and managing partner.”

Weinstein could not immediately be reached for comment.

The news is a big change for Verve, as Weinstein has been a driving force behind the agency since it started in 2010. Weinstein and co-founders Bryan Besser and Adam Levine worked their way up from Endeavor’s mailroom together in junior film and TV. literary agents in the early 2000s. By the end of the decade, the trio had struck out on their own, once Endeavor became a much larger company following its 2009 merger with the William Morris Agency. Weinstein is the first of Verve’s three founding partners to leave the business.

Verve has grown since its early days. The company has developed a strong roster of television and film clients, but also faces the challenges of smaller stores in retaining big-name clients and weathering industry storms. The fight over talent agency packaging fees in 2019-2020, the impact of pandemic shutdowns, followed by the 2023 Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes delivered a series of blows that hit smaller agencies and dependent businesses hard of talents.

Last year, Verve moved into 53,000 square feet of new office space in Hollywood, housing approximately 50 agents and support staff.

News of Weinstein’s departure was first reported by Deadline.
