Jose Rizal University has officially handed over hosting of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to University High School of the Philippines, which will oversee the league’s historic season more than 100 months from now.

Management committee chairman Paul Supan of JRU presided over Wednesday’s ceremony at the Filoil EcoOil Center as he officially handed over the duties of hosting the centennial bid to LPU athletics director Hercules Callanta.

The 100th season will mark the league’s fifth since the pandemic.

The NCAA, the country’s oldest league, held its 96th season at the height of the COVID-19 in 2021, with online chess and taekwondo games, while Colegio de San Juan de Letran served as host.

The following year, the league managed to organize two seasons of basketball in the 97 and 98 seasons, with the Knights becoming champions in both editions. Both seasons also saw De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde capture back-to-back women’s volleyball crowns, while University of Perpetual Help System DALTA continued its dominance in the men’s division last year.

The league was in full swing in the recent Season 99, establishing men’s soccer with San Beda University retaining the title, as well as other traditional sports of lawn tennis, table tennis and karate.
