Wheels whir and cyclists pedal to win the Downer Classic

MILWAUKEE – Cyclists rode hard in the Cafe Hollander Otto Wenz Downer Classic, a circuit that stretches from Downer Ave. to Park Place, then to Lake Drive and along Bradford Ave.

This is the 45th year the classic has run and is part of the fifteenth season of the Kwik Trip Tour of America’s Dairyland.

“It just adds a little extra spice to the race,” said Lai King Moy of the Tour of America’s Dairyland. “We will race in all weathers, unless it is dangerous.”

Locals, families and cycling enthusiasts braved the weather to watch the races move around the East Side.
