On Friday, Mark Anthony Thomas appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded not guilty to the offenses of possession of a narcotic with 4.5 grams of cannabis and obstructing a CANU officer in the execution of his duties.

A statement from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) said he was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 in connection with a charge of obstructing a CANU officer in the performance of his duties, but was denied bail and remanded in prison until August. 2, 2024, on a charge of possession of a narcotic.
