Lucky Ali accuses Karnataka Cadre IAS officer and relatives of land killing; Learn all about the case

Bengaluru: Popular singer Lucky Ali has filed a land grabbing case against the Karnataka IAS officer, who is no stranger to controversy, and his relatives, including her husband.

Ali filed the complaint before the Lokayukta, an anti-corruption ombudsman in Bengaluru, on June 20 and later shared a screenshot of the copy of the complaint on his ‘X’ account.

About the Problem

In the complaint, Indi-pop singer and son of Bollywood comedian Mehmood, who goes by the name Maqsood M Ali, said that IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri’s husband Sudhir Reddy and her brother-in-law Madhusudhan Reddy illegally entered his property, which it is in the name of a trust and refuses to show any legal document to prove that it belongs to them.

In the complaint, Ali wrote, “My farm, which is a trust property located in Kenchenahalli in Yelahanka, is being illegally encroached upon by Sudhir Reddy (and Madhu Reddy) of the Bangalore Land Mafia. With the help of his wife who is an IAS officer named Rohini Sindhuri, they misuse the state resources for their personal gain. They come forcibly and illegally in my farm and refuse to show the relevant documents, (sic)” Ali also said that the land in question was owned. by his family for the past 50 years.

The singer said that a complaint was lodged with the jurisdiction of ACP Manjunath but he failed to take action on it.

“I am not getting any help from the local police who are actually supporting the invaders and are indifferent to our plight and the legal status of our land. Dear Sir, I request your help to stop this illegal activity of them who are trying to prove false possession before the final hearing on December 7,” he pleaded.

A very old dispute

The dispute over land is not new. There is a pending court case dated 2016 against the land at survey numbers 25, 26 and 30 of Vasudevapura in Yelahanka Hobli on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Madhusudhan claimed that they acquired the property from Lucky Ali’s brother Mansoor Ali in 2012.

Meanwhile, Rohini, a 2009 batch IAS officer who is not new to controversies, has issued a statement saying that her name has been dragged into the matter in which she has no role for ulterior motives. She, however, said that she is aware of the matter on which there is a restraining order from the court against Lucky Ali.

IAS officer for Lucky Ali’s complaint

Saying that the matter is sub-judicial, Rohini said that when the courts are taken to court, Lucky Ali, whom I admire for his artistic skills, does so to discredit him and gain public sympathy. When Sindhuri’s colleague and fellow IAS officer DK committed suicide in 2015, her name was linked as she was said to be in love with the officer who was by then married with two daughters. Sindhuri was called for investigation by the police and shared details of all the calls and messages sent by Ravi.

More recently there was a confrontation between IPS officer Inspector General of Police Roopa (2000 batch) and Rohini. Roopa posted photos of Rohini (allegedly sent to her husband, an IAS officer Manish Moudgil), accusing Rohini of sharing similar images with several male IAS officers, violating the rules of service conduct. All three officers were transferred without posting on 21 February 2023. Rohini later filed a defamation suit against Roopa.

The IPS officer agreed to delete all the photos and comments he had posted against Rohini on her social media accounts. Roopa filed a case in the Supreme Court to quash the criminal defamation case filed by Rohini in the Karnataka High Court. The case is still pending in the superior court.

Rohini was accused of building a swimming pool at her official residence in Msyuru against rules while posted as deputy district commissioner. She was also accused of embezzling drought relief funds to build the pool in December 2020 during Covid.
