Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ garners praise from Karan Johar amid fallout rumors

Kartik Aaryan’s latest film ‘Chandu Champion’ has grabbed attention for all the right reasons. While critics, fans and industry people lauded Kabir Khan’s direction and Kartik Aaryan’s outstanding performance, director Karan Johar also took to social media to praise their efforts. There were earlier reports suggesting a fallout between Kartik and Johar over ‘Dostana 2’ as they parted ways before collaborating on the project.

Sharing the film’s poster on Instagram Stories, Karan Johar wrote, “Kabir Khan directs this courageous and inspiring life story as a love letter to the human spirit! Kartik Aaryan delivers a career-best performance with a human and honest portrayal…a must watch.” Kartik responded with gratitude on Instagram Stories, saying, “Thank you Karan. It means a lot.”

Initially, ‘Dostana 2’ was announced to star Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Laksh Lalwani. However, it was later revealed amid dramatic circumstances that Kartik was no longer attached to the project due to “professional circumstances”. Dharma Productions has announced its decision to recast for the sequel to the hit film starring Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan. Ultimately, the project was abandoned.

Instead, last year on Kartik’s 33rd birthday, Karan Johar announced his production of a film starring the actor. Without divulging details, Karan shared on Instagram, “Starting today with some special news on a special day! Extremely excited to announce that Dharma Movies and Balaji Motion Pictures are collaborating for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented Sandeep Modi. I am also delighted to announce the supremely talented Kartik Aaryan as the lead in this story, which will hit theaters on August 15, 2025.”

As for upcoming projects, Kartik is set to reprise his role from the third installment of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and is currently shooting for it. Meanwhile, Karan Johar, last seen donning the director’s hat for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani’.
