Rumor Roundup: Upcoming SummerSlam, CM Punk’s Status, Brooks Jensen’s Story, More!

Speculating on pro wrestling rumors is a favorite pastime for many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Rumors for the day:

  • All the future SummerSlam the events will likely take place over two nights, such as WrestleManiasays Fightful Select, and it is possible to adopt that for Royal Rumble and in one day.
  • On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said CM Punk’s status for SummerSlam it’s uncertain, and while WWE is hopeful, “it’s not a sure thing.”
  • Fightful says that NXT’s Brooks Jensen will wrestle on indie shows to help sell the storyline he was launched on by WWE.
  • PW Insider says Chris Kaiser, Executive Vice President of WWE Television, has left the company.

  • Before announcing her departure, Fightful Select reported that Kayla Braxton was working under a verbal agreement with WWE after her contract expired. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio “was told he could see the handwriting on the wall” as Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond were WWE’s best interviewers.
  • On June 23, WWE filed to trademark Jacob Fatu’s nickname “The Samoan Werewolf”.
