I-15 drivers encountered problems during the Thursday commute

SALT LAKE CITY — A dozen vehicles suffered flat tires this morning on southbound I-15. This caused delays between 5300 South in Murray and 9000 South in Sandy.

Sgt. Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden said it “was due to a stick shift in the travel lanes.” Roden said that’s what several of the drivers reported hitting, but the offending object was never found.

Further south on I-15 in Spanish Fork, a dump truck struck a passenger car, sending it onto the railroad tracks 20-30 feet away.

“There were only minor injuries and the individual chose not to be transported to the hospital,” Roden said.
