City of Wichita facilities close on Independence Day

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Many facilities in the city of Wichita will be closed or have special hours on Independence Day.

Facilities closed on July 4th


  • town hall
  • Neighborhood Resource Centers
  • Transit administrative offices
  • Wichita Public Library locations
  • Park administrative offices and recreation centers
  • Botanica
  • CityArts
  • Mid-American All-Indian Museum
  • Cowtown
  • Wichita Museum of Art
  • Great Plains Nature Center
  • Office of Environmental Health
  • APA Center
  • Brooks Warehouse
  • Animal shelter

There will also be no Wichita Transit or Paratransit service on Thursday, July 4.

Special program on July 4th

  • Wichita’s public pools will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Splash Pads will be open from 10am to 6pm.
  • The Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m
  • OJ Watson Park will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Races will be open from 10am to 5pm.
  • Wichita Public Golf Courses will be open during normal hours
