More rain Thursday and Friday for eastern KELOLAND

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Periods of rain fell across eastern KELOLAND Thursday with a chance for heavier rain early next week.

Rain fell in the morning hours from central to eastern KELOLAND. While more rain will fall Thursday night and Friday, we’re looking at a chance for more widespread heavy rain on Monday.

As a storm system moves through KELOLAND on Monday, we will have plenty of moisture available as the Gulf of Mexico will be wide open. This will allow for deep moisture in the atmosphere from Sioux Falls to Omaha. This means a round of heavy rain is possible early next week, it’s just a matter of where it settles.

And there is no clear idea of where it might be. A model suggests amounts of an inch or more in southeast KELOLAND, such as Sioux Falls, at over an inch. Even central South Dakota has a chance of over an inch in Pierre.

While another model has heavier rain across much of eastern South Dakota, over an inch and a half from Yankton to Sioux Falls.

This could be another round of heavy rain over an area that just doesn’t need it.
