Chandigarh: Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) second seat allocation result has been released through which Punjab Engineering College (PEC) aspirants can also secure seats. PEC has conducted the first round of allotment of seats for BTech courses based on the marks obtained by the students in the main common entrance examination administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to college records, around 800 JoSAA seats have been filled in various courses. Although the second list was made available to candidates on June 27 at 5 PM, the exact cutoff (opening and closing classes) for Round 2 was not revealed until 8 PM. During Round 1, CSE surpassed AI major in merit call among Chandigarh students. The opening slot is down nearly 7,000 this year in AI. The opening rank in CSE for home state students in 2024 was 4,310 and the closing rank was also the lowest at 14,677. The electronics engineering (VLSI design and technology) course was more popular with a cut-off rank of 30,755 for home state students compared to traditional electrical engineering which had a cut-off rank of 38,329 in the first round. In the first round, among out-of-state students, Computer Science and Engineering was the most preferred with the lowest cut of 9,984, followed by Computer Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) with 10,498 closes. The seat allotment process will continue for a month with JoSAA conducting at least five rounds of counselling. Additional rounds may be organized by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) if required. The exact date for the commencement of the academic session is yet to be decided.
