Ted competes in a charity pickleball tournament

The inaugural Milwaukee Celebrity Charity Pickleball Showcase and Tournament kicked off its second week of competition at Summerfest on June 27th.

The inaugural Milwaukee Celebrity Charity Pickleball Showcase and Tournament kicked off its second week of competition at Summerfest on Thursday, June 27th.

Winning teams receive $1,000 for their favorite charities. Members of the media and business owners of various skill levels were there to enjoy themselves.

FOX6’s Ted Perry joined Milwaukee Development Commissioner Lafayette Crump to run against Mayor Cavalier Johnson and his running mate Mark Kass on Thursday.

The mayor is new to the sport and has shown a lot of promise. He also said he realizes it’s a growing sport in Milwaukee.

“Later this year, this national pickleball convenience is happening here in Milwaukee, so there’s going to be more focus on the sport and it’s going to be on the sport here in Milwaukee,” he said. “I could see a big future for pickleball in the city.”

The mayor’s team won the fight on Thursday.
