Several schools in Hillsborough, Pasco County are getting new principals

The turnover of school principals in Hillsborough and Pasco counties continues amid ongoing promotions, retirements and resignations. Among the latest changes approved Tuesday:

Gretchen Rudolph-Fladd will take over Pasco Elementary School in Dade City, replacing Donna College, who has retired. Rudolph-Fladd joined the district as a teacher in 1998 and has held numerous administrative positions since 2009. She has been the principal of Centennial Elementary in Zephyrhills since 2017.

Valerie Hammen will become Centennial’s new director, replacing Rudolph-Fladd. Hammen, who joined the district in 2008, was most recently assistant principal at Wiregrass Elementary. She previously served as assistant principal at Centennial from 2017 to 2022.

In Hillsborough County, Taryn Anello was promoted from assistant principal to principal of Wharton High School in New Tampa, effective July 22. Anello, 47, joined the district in 2001. She replaces Michael Rowan, who is now the district’s general manager of student engagement.
