Tourists have been banned from Capri in Italy due to water shortages

The ban, which does not apply to residents, will be in place until further notice.

Rome, Italy:

The Italian island of Capri banned tourists from disembarking on Saturday after problems with the mainland’s water supply threatened to leave the holiday hotspot dry.

The ban by Capri mayor Paolo Falco forced several ferries bound for the island from Naples and Sorrento in southern Italy to turn back.

The company responsible for supplying the island with water said there was a technical problem on the mainland on Thursday, and while it had since been resolved, problems remained with the supply to Capri.

Falco warned of “a real emergency” and said that while there was still water on most of the island on Friday, local reservoirs were “running low”.

“The emergency would be compounded by the arrival of the thousands of tourists who arrive on Capri every day,” he said.

Locals could collect up to 25 liters of drinking water per household from a tanker truck, he said.

The ban, which does not apply to residents, will be in place until further notice.

Capri, in the Gulf of Naples, is famous for its white villas, cove-filled coastline and luxury hotels. There are about 13,000 permanent residents, but a very large number of day-trippers in the summer months.

WIF Price Drops – Can This Meme Solana Coin Come Back To $5? https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN42HAO438884KM56/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:42:56 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN42HAO438884KM56/

Over the past 24 hours, WIF, a meme coin based on Solana, has seen a significant drop in price, leading investors to wonder if the decline will continue or if it may reach $5 in the coming weeks.

Today, we’ll discuss WIF’s recent price action using technical analysis, determining whether it signals a bearish trend or whether it may bounce back and reach its all-time high of nearly three months ago.

In addition to WIF, we will also explore one of the best options among the best crypto presales today: PlayDoge. We’ll dive into its features and potential to become the next big meme currency.

WIF Price Forecast

dogwifhat (WIF) remains among the top four cryptocurrencies with a trading volume of $300,000 per 24 hours, despite a 25% drop this week. However, there are positive signs; increased by 6% in the last 72 hours.

Overall, the crypto market is recovering from recent declines, with Bitcoin up 1% and Ethereum up 5%, currently holding at $3,500. dogwifhat is trading at $1.79 with a market cap of $1.8 billion, placing it in the top 50 cryptocurrencies.

In the last week, it’s down 25%, and in the last month, it’s down 45%. Looking at the annual trend, the symbol is moving in a downward direction. This decline could continue unless new levels of support emerge or compelling reasons motivate investors to buy, as the community alone does not support its value.

WIF price chartWIF price chart

The cryptocurrency market is inherently volatile with frequent ups and downs. Looking at the charts, analysts have identified strong previous resistance at the $1.40 level, but recent trends have broken this level to the downside, raising concerns about a potential sell signal.

Despite this, WIF has a massive following of over 90,000 followers who actively engage and post memes on his X account, indicating substantial potential. dogwifhat has shown signs of growth with recent Bitstamp posts and new exchange listings.

If WIF is listed on major exchanges like Robinhood or Binance, it could significantly push the project to $5. However, without such listings, a downward trend could continue.

Technical indicators are currently showing a bearish trend, with most suggesting a strong sell. The news is also bearish, with analysts setting a $1 price target on dogwifhat. However, early investors are still reaping the rewards, as is typical in volatile markets where early adopters benefit the most.

While dogwifhat is currently experiencing a downtrend, it is unlikely to crash below $1. Similar to Turbo Token, which saw a reversal after a dip, investors are likely to buy at low prices, which may lead to a rally.

The PlayDoge presale raised nearly $5 million

PlayDoge’s success demonstrates the project’s significant potential for the future. The innovative meme currency is approaching a major milestone, with its presale approaching the $5 million mark. In just over three weeks, PlayDoge has already raised over $4.8 million.

PlayDoge combines the popular gaming and meme sectors, offering a Play-to-Earn (P2E) platform that stands out in the crowded crypto market. It harnesses the nostalgia of the iconic character Doge and the beloved digital pets of the 90s, the Tamagotchi.

In this game, users can own, feed, train and play with their digital Doge pets using a smartphone app, eliminating the need for a separate handheld device. This modern take on the Tamagotchi offers enhanced features and the added benefit of earning cryptocurrency.

Players earn $PLAY tokens by completing a series of classic 2-D games, accumulating experience points (XP) and rewards. Players who achieve the highest XP scores earn additional rewards, making the game both addictive and profitable.

The success of simple, Web3-based games like Notcoin’s tap-to-earn game proves that complexity is not necessary for success. PlayDoge’s accessible and rewarding gameplay could appeal to a wide audience, making it very popular.

A notable feature of $PLAY is the ability to multi-chain staking on both BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum, unlike most multi-chain tokens that offer rewards on a single chain. This rare dual-chain approach offers a significant advantage to a wider range of investors.

$PLAY holders can use the PlayDoge betting dashboard to view and manage rewards from both chains, highlighting why smart money traders are increasingly attracted to PlayDoge.

With these features, PlayDoge is quickly making its mark in the cryptocurrency world, solidifying its potential for long-term success. Now is a great time for investors to consider adding $PLAY to their portfolios. To participate in the $PLAY token presale, visit playdoge.io.

Local Hero Awarded for CPR Rescue https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN42HAO438882KM33/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:42:33 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN42HAO438882KM33/

A local hero was recognized this afternoon for rushing to the aid of a citizen in cardiac arrest, starting CPR and calling 911. These actions set off a series of events that would ultimately save the life of a total stranger.

On the evening of January 19, 2024 at 6:29 p.m., Alyssa Enevold was walking with her friends in the 100 block of East Cherry Street in Normal, IL. Suddenly, Alyssa suffered a severe cardiac event, collapsed and lost consciousness. Her friends quickly realized she wasn’t breathing and immediately called for help.

At that exact moment, Anthony Michalski was leaving a friend’s apartment nearby and noticed Alyssa on the ground. Recognizing the urgency, Anthony rushed in without hesitation. Using his training as a certified lifeguard and member of the United States Army, he immediately began CPR. He continued these life-saving measures until the Normal Fire Department arrived and took over Alyssa’s care. Alyssa was not breathing and had no pulse when NFD arrived. During transport, she was defibrillated by NFD medics, who restored her heart to a normal rhythm.

Alyssa was transported to Carle BroMenn Hospital in Normal, IL, where Carle staff continued to stabilize her with fluids and medications and worked to identify the cause of the cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick actions of Anthony and EMS, emergency department personnel were able to stabilize Alyssa and transfer her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In this moment of crisis, Anthony demonstrated remarkable skill, courage and compassion, making a profound difference in the life of a complete stranger. His actions were carried out without hesitation and were exactly what was needed at that time and place.

It cannot be overstated enough: Immediate CPR in the presence of a lethal heart rhythm can save lives!

For his actions, Anthony Michalski received the Life Saving Award from the Normal Police and Fire Departments at a ceremony at the Normal Fire Department headquarters this afternoon. He handed the award to Alyssa.

Iran Overturns Rapper Toomaj Salehi’s Death Sentence Over 2022 Protests https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN38HAO438880KM43/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:38:43 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN38HAO438880KM43/

Supreme Court of Iran abolished the death penalty of government critic and popular hip-hop artist Toomaj Salehi — who became famous for his lyrics about the death in police custody of Mahsa Amini in 2022 – his lawyer Amir Raisian said on Saturday.

In a post on social media platform X, Raisian said the court had assessed the case and found Salehi’s last six years in prison to be “excessive” because the sentence was more than what was allowed by law. He added that another branch of the court will now review the case.

Salehi’s death sentence in April by a revolutionary court in the central city of Isfahan created confusion because even Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency and the judiciary did not officially confirm it. Such courts in Iran often involve closed-door hearings with evidence produced by the secretary and grant limited rights to those on trial.

The news quickly drew international criticism from the United States and United Nations experts, who condemned it as a sign of Tehran’s continued crackdown on all dissent after years of mass protests.

Protesters call on the United Nations to take action against the treatment of women in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini in moral police custody during a demonstration in New York City on November 19, 2022.

Salehi, 33, was arrested in October 2022 after publicly arguing demonstrations that broke out after the in-custody death of Amini, 22. Amini had been detained by Iran’s moral police for wearing her hijab too loosely, CBS News previously reported. Salehi’s supporters said his charges were based on his music and participation in protests.

Salehi rapped about Amini in a video, saying, “Someone’s crime danced with their hair in the wind.” In another verse, he predicts the downfall of Iran’s theocracy.

The Revolutionary Court charged Salehi with “assisting in sedition, assembly and collusion, propaganda against the system and calling for riots,” Raisian said.

Shortly after his release in November 2023, Salehi was sent back to prison after he said in a video message that he had been tortured following his detention in October 2022. State media at the time released a video in which it shows him blindfolded and apologizing for his words, a statement. probably done under duress. Later in 2023, a court sentenced Salehi to more than six years in prison.

United Nations investigators say Iran was responsible for Amini’s death and that it violently suppressed the largely peaceful protests in a months-long security crackdown that has killed more than 500 people and seen more than 22,000 detained. Nine men were executed in protest-related cases involving killing and other violence against security forces.

Lucky Ali knocks on Lokayukta’s ‘land grab’ by Karnataka IAS officer, she says ‘no evidence’ https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN37HAO438878KM27/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:37:27 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN37HAO438878KM27/

“Land grabbing by IAS officer and her husband and her political brother-in-law using state machinery illegally and through many exchanges of money…” Ali wrote on X.

Ali posted a picture of his complaint to the Lokayukta on X, in which Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yelahanka) Manjunath, an unnamed sub-inspector and Manohar, a taluk inspector, are also named.

In December 2022, Ali had accused Sinduri’s family members of trying to usurp land belonging to his family trust in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka locality. The matter went to court and Ali claimed that the property in question legally belonged to his family.

case

The case dates back almost 50 years, according to lawyer Sriram Nayak, who challenged the original sale of the land on behalf of his client Masood Ali, Lucky Ali’s elder brother.

Nayak said that in 1969, the brothers’ father, late actor Mehmood, had bought about 400 acres of land in Yelahanka. Of this, about 220 acres were lost to other constraints. The remaining area was in Mehmood’s possession and this was when he got in touch with P. Dayananda Pai of Century builders to sell a few acres.

According to Nayak, there have been various malicious developments since then, including forging signatures, execution of illegal GPAs (power of attorney) and usurpation of land.

Some of the illegally purchased land was further sold. The trustees claim that part of the land was sold to Sindhuri’s father-in-law and, after his death, to his son Madhusudhan Reddy. This is when Ali first objected to the resale of this land.

Although he represents only Masood Ali, Nayak said the impact of his case will be applicable to all parties involved.

“If they prove that the (original) deeds of sale are void…basically, the deed of sale that I bought includes every property in the trust. So if we win, it will be on the whole stretch of the field, not only on our poll numbers,” said Nayak.

AAP leaders have turned the water crisis into an opportunity to blame neighboring states: Delhi LG https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN36HAO438876KM53/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:36:53 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN36HAO438876KM53/

Delhi Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena File photo

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government, saying the city’s ruling party leaders have turned the water crisis into an opportunity to blame neighboring states with the aim of to gain political mileage.

The LG office in a statement on Saturday said, “The shrill speech of the GNCTD ministers in the last few weeks has been disturbing and questionable at various levels. Drinking water supply has become a challenge in the national capital amid a scorching heat wave that has gripped northern India. Political leaders in Delhi have turned a crisis into an opportunity to blame neighboring states for the sole purpose of gaining political mileage.”

The LG argued that the criticism of Delhi government leaders has only aggravated the problems of the city’s residents and antagonized neighboring states, which are themselves facing water shortages.

The note also says that the national capital is dependent on drinking water supply from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and inter-state water sharing agreements are established through institutional mechanisms created by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, repeatedly upheld by the highest court of the earth.

States are required to release water according to the agreements signed in this framework, and at the same time, the city government has an obligation to ensure that this water resource is used efficiently to ensure equitable supply throughout the city.

However, the LG argued that, unfortunately, neither the city government has shown seriousness in ensuring the improvement of water networks and increased capacity, nor has it chosen a path of dialogue.

The LG said that he had repeatedly highlighted before the CM that governance should be conducted in a harmonious environment, and in the spirit of conciliation and accommodation.

An approach of habitual antagonism towards the central government and other state governments is counterproductive. It can only take one so far and the biggest sufferer in this game is none other than the common resident of Delhi, LG added.

“I have given a sincere suggestion to the CM that he needs to take a fresh look at his advisers who seem to lack administrative acumen and professional competence. Unfortunately, he chose to ignore my suggestion,” the statement reads.

The Raj Niwas statement also said that Delhi is witnessing a travesty of governance which is a mockery of the citizens.

The AAP government is resorting to litigation against the constitutional head of the GNCTD as well as the Central Government, other state governments and even the departments headed by its own ministers, the note further said.

The LG claimed that after staying in power for 10 years, the AAP government had not added a single liter to the water treatment capacity, which it had inherited from the predecessor government.

The supply and distribution pipeline network is old and leaking, he said, adding that DJB should have invested resources in repairing and replacing old lines.

Saxena said that in June last year, he had written to the CM highlighting the need for dredging of the Wazirabad dam pond area, which had not been de-clogged since 2013, he claimed, adding that the capacity of the pond had reduced. by 94 percent.

The LG further claimed that a simple calculation reveals that in the last decade, due to silting of the pond area, Delhi is allowing nearly 9,12,500 million gallons of water to flow into the river.

‘She’ll do anything to be relevant’: Fans react as Paige VanZant signs with Dana White-owned Power Slap https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN35HAO438872KM33/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:35:33 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN35HAO438872KM33/

Back to the UFC, right? Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant has signed with Dana White’s Power Slap. Amazed? After all, VanZant’s journey in combat sports was far from predictable. From her departure to the UFC in 2020 due to a heavy fighting record, to bare-knuckle boxing and celebrity matches, she’s tried it all.

But the hand fight? It’s a leap even for her. Why this sudden change? Could this move be more than just staying relevant? Maybe it’s another twist in VanZant’s quest to find her niche — or maybe it’s just about making headlines again.

Can VanZant avoid studying in a new sport?

Bjpenn recently tweeted: “Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant reportedly signed with Power Slap.” This announcement sparked a wave of reactions from fans online.

One fan humorously commented, “So he signed back to the UFC then 😂,” drawing a comparison between the Power Slap and VanZant’s former fight home. Crossing over to another sport under the Dana White umbrella certainly feels like a return to familiar territory.

Another fan speculated on VanZant’s motivations, stating, “Only fan subs need to be down.” Her comment suggests that financial reasons may be driving her decision to join Power Slap.

Adding a touch of sarcasm, this fan wrote: “Cool, now he can lose in a new way! :)” This remark highlights VanZant’s recent struggles in her combat sports career, including losses in BKFC.

This fan echoed her sentiment with “Only fans are drying up,” suggesting that VanZant’s earnings from her OnlyFans account may not be as lucrative as before.

Finally, one fan stated bluntly, “She will do anything to be relevant and for money.” This comment reflects a common view among fans that VanZant’s decision is more about maintaining her public profile and financial gain than athletic ambition.

These reactions show mixed opinions about VanZant’s latest career move. As she prepares to step into the world of slap fighting, fans remain curious and skeptical about her future in Power Slap.

Is Power Slap Overtaking Taylor Swift In Views?

Dana White isn’t shy about promoting the Power Slap. In a recent interview with FLAGRANT, he made some bold claims. “And if I did that, would I make it a real sport, sanction it and put a good production value behind it?” White said, recalling his first slapping match. “The answer is a few billion views. Billions of views globally.”

White continued, “We started this thing 15 months ago, right? Right now on YouTube we have more subscribers than NHL, MLS, NASCAR, PGA, Barstool Sports. We have over a billion views on YouTube. Eight of the Top 12 Biggest YouTube Shorts Against Other Major Sports Are Power Slaps.”

He even claimed, “We have more viewers than any Taylor Swift video ever posted.” Whether those stats hold up or not, White’s enthusiasm for the Power Slap is undeniable.

What do you think about Paige VanZant joining Power Slap? Is it a smart career move or a desperate attempt to stay relevant? Share your thoughts in the comments below. And don’t forget to stay tuned for more updates on this.

King Tulsa
Photo: Paramount+

We’re on the verge of getting a premiere date for King Tulsa Season 2 is over at Paramount+? The demand is definitely there!

Also remember: earlier this year, the streaming service indicated that you’d be seeing the Sylvester Stallone series sometime this fall. By virtue of that, doesn’t it seem fair that we’ll get more news sooner rather than later?

There’s no real reason to beat around the bush here. Let’s just say that if we don’t end up getting some sort of news on a season 2 premiere date by the end of the summer, we’d be stunned. In fact, it looks like one will be announced next month. With CBS rebroadcasting the first season starting July 14th, it makes sense to put a date around that time to build hype. Stallone has said in the past that the series will return in early November, although this has not currently been confirmed by anyone at Paramount.

What will the second season look like?

The chances are not too different from what you saw in the first half! The cliffhanger with Dwight will almost certainly be one of the first things to be addressed, but after that, there will be opportunities to learn more about who arrives in Oklahoma and what some of their own ultimate goals will lead to. Rest assured there will be a good mix of action and comedy, otherwise known as the kind of thing you’d expect from a series like this.

Now, we certainly have no reason to believe that King Tulsa it will be less of a smash hit than it was the first time it aired. The only real challenge is making sure you promote it thoroughly, mostly because it’s been MIA for so long.

What do you most want to see them move into? King Tulsa season 2 no matter when it airs?

Former national bison champion Otterdahl on the verge of a second Olympic appearance – InForum https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN30HAO438863KM34/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:30:34 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN30HAO438863KM34/

FARGO – The greatest track athletes the United States has to offer have gathered in Eugene, Ore., for the next ten days to qualify for the Olympic team that will go to Paris.

Former North Dakota National and All-American State Champion Payton Otterdahl still needs to take a minute to be one of them.

“I’m so thankful and grateful for what the sport has done for me, because throwing this heavy metal ball has taken me around the world.” Otterdahl said from Oregon earlier this week. “It gives me friends from all kinds of backgrounds and walks of life and different nationalities, and I think it still has more to offer.”

Otterdahl returns to the Olympic trials for the second time. Three years ago, Otterdahl uncorked a lifetime best in the shot put, throwing 71 feet, 11 inches to finish third at the trials and qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

“Three years ago, I was more hoping to make the team, rather than wanting it to happen. We were just hoping that we would be able to team up.”

Otterdahl finished tenth at the Tokyo Olympics. He returned to Eugene, now ranked as the fourth best fighting player in the world. The challenging part for Otterdahl is that two of the men ranked ahead of him are Americans, Joe Kovacs and Ryan Crouser.

Each will be favorites to make the Olympic team as well. Crouser is the world record holder in the event.

“They’re all so talented that they could make a huge throw and have a huge personal best. There’s no better time to do that than the trials and no better place than Eugene.”

Otterdahl left Fargo as the most decorated Division I track athlete in NDSU history. He won two national indoor titles in 2019 before embarking on a professional career that has taken him around the world. He says he needed some convincing to come to Fargo.

As a native of Minnesota, he knew North Dakota winters all too well.

“I don’t want any part of it. I’m from Minnesota too, so I’m used to winter, but Fargo winters are something else. I didn’t even want to come. My mother convinced me, thank God. I visited and fell in love with the campus. I fell in love with the coaches and teammates there.

Otterdahl advanced to tonight’s power throw final after throwing 71 feet, 2.5 inches to finish second in qualifying. He says emotions will be at the fore tonight at Heyward Field.

“You have your anxiety about the competition, the doubts creep into your head, but you have to put them aside and think of it more as an opportunity to show how hard you’ve worked and let it show in a meeting.

I see it more as an opportunity. I’m very excited.”

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript – Stephenson Memorial Library receives grant https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN29HAO438861KM52/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:29:52 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN29HAO438861KM52/

Stephenson Memorial Library, 761 Forest Road in Greenfield, has been selected to receive a Rural Library Grant for the 2024-2025 school year from the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF), a nonprofit organization located in Waterbury Center, Vt.

Awarded annually to 12 eligible public libraries in Vermont and New Hampshire, the grant is designed to help small-town libraries create excitement around literacy, update their collection, increase circulation and strengthen the library’s connection to the community.

“The mission of the Stephenson Memorial Library is to provide lifelong learning opportunities for the residents of Greenfield through access to a wide range of ideas, information and resources. The CLiF grant allows us to provide children in Greenfield with new programming opportunities and new reading materials to enjoy. We are so excited for the kids in Greenfield.” said library director Ella Cademartori.

The grant provides $2,000 in new children’s books for the library, $500 in new books for Greenfield Elementary School, two storytelling events for children at Greenfield Elementary School or at the library, two new books for each child at the school to select and take them home and financing. for mini-grants for special library programming throughout the year.

“The CLiF Rural Libraries Grant Program is a wonderful way to support libraries by generating awareness and excitement through in-person events and book giveaways for local children,” said CLiF Program Manager Cassie Willner. “In addition, we know how important it is to help small libraries update and diversify their children’s book collection and to promote awareness through new titles and events.”

“We are so excited that Stephenson Memorial Library, with the resources provided by this grant, will now be able to engage our community in reading in ways that do not currently exist. The funds and programming will strengthen the connection that already exists between Greenfield Elementary School and the library and provide even greater opportunities for collaboration, events and exposure to literature for our students,” said Greenfield Elementary School Principal Shawne Hilliard.

To be considered for the grant, libraries serve cities with a total population of 5,000 or less. The Rural Libraries Grant is one of CLiF’s long-standing programs, and CLiF has worked with approximately 90 percent of the libraries in both states that fall into this category.

Greater Wichita YMCA Creates First Dedicated Pickleball Courts; more can follow https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN27HAO438855KM57/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:27:57 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN27HAO438855KM57/

As pickleball has continued to grow in popularity, so have the Greater Wichita YMCA’s offerings for it, but there have never been fully dedicated fields for the sport until now.

“We are transforming the West Y Middle School,” said President and CEO Ronn McMahon.

Almost all YMCA facilities have time dedicated to pickleball on other courts, but he said “we’re really going to dedicate that gym to pickleball in a way that we never have before.”

“It’s going to be pickleball action all day.”

McMahon credits West YMCA branch director Ashley Sorensen with the idea.

“There are more and more people playing pickleball,” she said.

Because there are no youth sports at that gym, Sorensen said, “We’re really able to pilot this at our location.”

The YMCA was able to cover the floor with PickleRoll, which can turn any hard surface into a pickleball court.

On a regular gym, McMahon said pickleballs can bounce and the courts have sparkle.

With the PickleRoll, he said, “It’s just a better pickleball experience.”

Sorensen said there was a large crowd of guys who played lunchtime basketball at the West YMCA, but she said they understood the need to transform the floor. Now, they can play at the South YMCA’s Farha Sports Center, where they can expand their games in a facility that kids don’t generally use at the time.

“It was kind of a win-win for both groups,” she said.

There will be an open house for the new facility, which is at 6940 Newell near Central and Ridge Road, on Saturday from 2 to 5:30 p.m.

Sorensen said there will be pickleball programs for kids, beginners, tournaments, drills and open play. There will be some free clinics for beginners as well.

Courts are free for members and $10 for guests and can be reserved for $10.

“It’s an activity for all ages. . . and skill and ability levels,” Sorensen said.

She said she is eager to hear from members about what they want in the courts.

“It’s more than just a pilot because we’re really invested in it,” McMahon said. “There are always opportunities to expand.”

So could this one day mean a YMCA facility dedicated just to pickleball?

“There are Y’s all over the country doing this, I’ll just say that,” McMahon said.

Sorensen said he “would love to see that happen.”

McMahon said he’s not making any promises, but he’s not saying “No” either.

“It’s the fastest growing sport in the country,” he said.

McMahon said she likes how it’s a way the YMCA continues to get people moving and create access and connectivity.

As with so many sports, he said, “You just build these great communities.”

Trump to address religious conference after endorsing Ten Commandments law: Live updates https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN25HAO438851KM56/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:25:56 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN25HAO438851KM56/

Trump’s lawyers want charges in the missing documents case

Donald Trump is back on the campaign trail today, addressing conservative Christians at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, DC. The former president, a convicted felon accused of adultery, has declared his “love” for the Ten Commandments following new Louisiana legislation requiring them to be displayed in all classrooms.

Later on Saturday, he will head to a rally near Philadelphia, continuing a recent run of campaigns in traditionally Democratic cities.

Yesterday, a hearing in the former president’s classified documents case ended without a ruling, as Judge Aileen Cannon accepted a motion from Trump’s legal team that Jack Smith was illegally appointed as special counsel.

Smith has brought charges of mishandling classified information in Florida and the District of Columbia for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Trump’s argument that Smith’s appointment was illegal stems from his claim that Attorney General Merrick Garland does not have the legal authority to appoint a special counsel that the Senate has not confirmed.

Cannon seemed skeptical of Trump’s argument that Smith was appointed illegally, but also said the impeachment’s legal analysis appeared to be an overly “flexible” reading of the Constitution, The right reported.

“We need someone who will speak the truth boldly like a lion and really tell the people what is going on in this nation,” Pastor Collins said.

of criticism of Mr Trump for supporting the new Louisiana law requiring classrooms to display the Ten Commandments, he said: “We’ve all broken the Ten Commandments, haven’t we?”

“We are not looking for a perfect person, but we are looking for a person who has a heart for the American people and a heart for God. And I think I honestly believe in my heart that he is the one who has it. I don’t see it in Biden. I didn’t see it in Obama,” Collins said.

“I didn’t vote for any of them. I voted for Donald Trump the first time. I was here for the first inauguration and I will be here for the second inauguration. So this is the man of the day. This is the man of the hour. And we pray, we pray.”

His son Frank, 19, who will vote for the first time, said he believes young people “want to have someone we can trust in office, which is Trump.”

“Everybody makes mistakes. He’s done a lot of things in office that have helped this country. I just think he’s the answer to our problems.”

The family rejected the lawsuit against Trump – saying that members of the black community in the US felt solidarity with the former president because they felt that the judicial “dice” was stacked against us.

“It’s a kangaroo process. No, no offense to the people of Australia, but (the US) is a banana republic. It’s really unfair what they did to him and people see through it. And I think it will come up in the polls now. Donald Trump went through something that black Americans do a lot. We have the dice stacked against us,” he said.

“We are going to court and things are against us. And so not only us, but also poor people. So when they look at what they did to them, we can relate. What was done here was neither right nor legal. Justice has been militarized against him.”

“He is always a beacon of light. Whenever he walks in, he just lights up the room. Trump speaks directly to the people. That is the difference between him and many politicians. He speaks in the way we understand and believe him.”

She said that under his presidency the economy “was at an all-time high.”

“I have never lived so well. I bought my house during his presidency.

Right now, with interest rates going up, when you go to the gas station, the American people see the difference between his presidency when he was governing and what we’re seeing now under the Biden presidency.”

She supported Louisiana’s decision earlier this week to become the first state to require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every public school classroom — raising concerns about the separation of church and state and whether the move could be unconstitutional . Critics of Mr Trump, who has enthusiastically shown his support for the move on social media, have pointed out that he has been accused of breaking several orders, including adultery with Stormy Daniels and corruption over his felony conviction in New York.

His supporters brushed aside the criticism.

“I’m not voting for a pastor. I vote for someone who leads the country”, said Mrs. Renata.

“As Jesus says, let him who is not a sinner cast the first stone. So Donald Trump is not perfect. I’m not perfect. I don’t think you’re perfect. The problem is that we always want to visualize this perfect man. That perfect person doesn’t exist.”

“And that’s why Trump is talking to us, because he’s not perfect.”

Pesticide spraying is a common occurrence in Maine https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN24HAO438849KM44/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:24:44 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN24HAO438849KM44/

Along the smoke-shrouded shores of Beals’ Great Wass Island Reserve, the hum of an unseasonably warm June day melted away. The preserve’s ever-present sea winds carried the chill of the salt spray across granite ledges, verdant forests and pine forests.

Just 13 miles away on the mainland, something less pleasant hung in the air: the toxic pesticide imidacloprid. It is one of several popular neonicotinoids, a class of pesticides designed to mimic nicotine, whose use is banned in the European Union and restricted in 10 US states.

On June 10, Columbia Falls-based Worcester Holdings — the company behind the abandoned Flagpole of Freedom project — notified residents near Addison that the company will use drones to spray imidacloprid over 190 acres of its pine forest this summer .

The pesticide is used to control balsam moss and woolly adelgid in firs that provide balsam branch tips for Worcester Wreath, one of the company’s holdings.

The news caused a stir on social media, with residents alarmed by the potential threat to wildlife, people and the environment.

But Worcester isn’t the only one applying pesticides. The practice is common in forestry and agriculture.

A recent attempt to ban the aerial application of pesticides in the state was rejected by Gov. Janet Mills, but environmental advocates continue to push for more regulations.

“We’ve long been concerned about the impact of pesticides,” said Heather Spalding, deputy director of the Maine Farmers and Gardeners Association. “There are so many studies, peer-reviewed studies — more and more information is coming out every week about the impact on human health and the environment.”

In 2022, the US Environmental Protection Agency concluded that imidacloprid and other neonicotinoids were “likely to adversely affect” endangered or threatened species and critical habitats.

In addition to imidacloprid, many of the more than 11,000 pesticides registered for legal use in Maine have been identified as potentially harmful.

The state establishes regulations for their application through the Pesticide Control Board (BPC), including requiring training and authorization for applicators. In the commercial category, there are 1,648 registered and certified pesticide applicators working for 573 companies or organizations. Eleven of them hold licenses for aerial applications.

Despite Worcester Holdings’ history of violations, the company appears to be following protocol. Worcester Holdings has duly notified and is duly registered.

Surprisingly, so are five of the state’s top conservation organizations — including The Nature Conservancy of Maine, stewards of the Great Wass Island Reserve.

According to one Monitor Maine review of state data, The Maine Coast Heritage Trust, Friends of Acadia, Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve and Kennebec Estuary Land Trust also have licensed commercial pesticide applicators on staff.

“Disappointing Disappointing”

Between them, the five conservation groups have 17 pesticide applicators who help manage more than 2.6 million acres, mostly along the coast.

None hold aerial application licenses, instead hand-applying chemicals from “pesticide backpacks” as part of what’s called an integrated pest management approach. This involves the use of pesticides to augment hand pulling and other natural means of eradicating pests and invasive plants.

Trees that are part of the Worcester Holdings forest.
Of particular concern is the effect on local pollinators. Although pine forests are not a bee habitat, aphids live among the trees, and bees are attracted to the droppings left by the aphids. Photo by Kate Cough.

All conservation groups interviewed for this story opposed the idea of using aerial application, saying their methods are much safer.

A spokesman for The Nature Conservancy in Maine — a group founded with the help of respected biologist Rachel Carson — said it has several licensed applicators on staff who must occasionally use highly targeted herbicide applications to control invasive plants. TNC has conserved approximately 2.4 million acres in 193 conservancies.

The other conservation groups that responded to questions from the screen had similar responses: they reluctantly use pesticides as part of a comprehensive approach to control invasive plants and vegetation from consuming entire habitats.

“It would be irresponsible of us as conservation landowners to allow invasive plants to spread unchecked on the lands we have conserved because they greatly diminish the ecological value. It’s not something we’re willing to sit by and let happen,” said Amanda Devine, director of stewardship for the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, which oversees 180,000 acres from Kittery to Calais.

Devine, as well as Dillon Mulhern, the preserve manager for the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, described their groups’ use of pesticides as “surgical.”

But some environmental advocates, like MOFGA’s Spalding, say there are better, non-chemical methods to manage even a large acreage. Spalding called the news that some conservation groups are using glyphosate and other pesticides “disappointingly disappointing.”

Air application problem

In 2021, the legislature passed LD 125, An Act to Prohibit Aerial Spraying of Glyphosate and Other Synthetic Herbicides for Forestry Purposes. Despite broad support, Mills vetoed the bill, and lawmakers failed to override the veto.

The governor later ordered BPC and the Maine Forest Service to review rules related to aerial pesticide application for silviculture, the science of forest management.

The agencies hired a consultant named Harold Thistle, a retired forest meteorologist, and paid him $30,000 to conduct a study. An additional $98,436 in federal and other funding was used for water quality monitoring.

The 175-page report, due out in 2022, is based on a series of studies that consider the impact of buffer zones, droplet size, height of pesticide release, weather and wind drift.

Thistle found that aerial herbicide treatments produced the highest internal rate of return for the forestry industry, and alternative methods would be too expensive.

Many of the concerns about aerial application have to do with the degree to which pesticide droplets float through the air, potentially catching a breeze and landing outside the target area.

“Although aerial herbicide application as practiced in Maine poses a very low risk, it is impossible to assert that no herbicide drift occurs,” Thistle concluded in the report. “The amounts of long-range drift are shown to be minimal when present.”

While drones have seen significant use in pesticide applications in the South, they remain an emerging technology in the Northeast.

Patrick Strauch, executive director of the Maine Forest Products Council, and other industry professionals believe drones can help reduce drift because they can fly close to the ground, specifically spraying targeted invasive plants and insects.

“The technology can provide precision treatment of browntail moth outbreaks in high-susceptibility areas,” Strauch said in an email.

“This must be stopped”

Although the statewide ban failed, at least seven Maine municipalities have passed ordinances that prohibit or restrict the aerial application of pesticides. A total of 32 municipalities have ordinances that prohibit or limit the application of pesticides.

Some Addison residents are calling on city officials to adopt such a measure.

“Town selectmen need to put a moratorium on aerial spraying until an ordinance can be passed,” one Addison resident posted, later adding, “We don’t want to spray anywhere near our property. This must be stopped!!!”

A sign at the entrance to Wreaths Across America.

Of particular concern is the effect on local pollinators. Cornell University biologist Thomas Dyer Seeley, who lives in Downeast Maine part of the year and is an expert on bees, said that while pine forests are not bee habitat, aphids live among the trees and bees are attracted to the droppings left behind. of aphids.

“Bees can go to those aphids and drink what’s called honey,” Seeley said. “So even if they’re just spraying conifer sites … these pesticides could get into the bees.”

Alex Cammen, a licensed forester and pesticide applicator for Worcester Holdings, said the company follows laws governing the safe use of pesticides and also wants to be good stewards of the land.

“(We) are members of communities … and we care deeply about the health of our neighbors, forests, wildlife, waters and ourselves,” Cammen said.

There are no legislative or advocacy group efforts to mount a new fight to ban aerial pesticides at the state level, according to Spalding. She said she is now focusing on issues like deforestation.

Her group also argued against an exemption for agricultural pesticides during recent legislative discussions about banning the sale of products containing PFAS. There are at least 55 PFAS-related chemicals present in more than 1,400 pesticides registered for use in Maine, according to Spalding’s testimony.

“When you apply fungicides and herbicides, insecticides, larvicides, you have a really negative impact on the health of the soil microbiome,” Spalding said. “We need to move away from spraying agricultural and forestry land with chemicals.”

The famous Conor McGregor revealed in a post on Instagram the reason for the cancellation of the Chandler fight. McGregor revealed that the reason he pulled out was a broken toe. Conor stated: “We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing full protective gear and hit my elbow and broke my toe.” So it looks like Conor broke his toe while fighting.

This is pretty good news in itself as there has been a lot of concern as to why McGregor pulled out of the fight and what happened. With Conor out with a substantial leg injury, there was concern that he had re-injured the same leg. Fortunately, he just broke his toe, which, while not ideal, is far from the worst injury he can sustain. This should be able to heal relatively quickly. In fact, McGregor himself said, “It takes a few weeks and that’s it.”

Why Conor retired

McGregor has recently entered fights injured before, such as the Khabib fight and the Poirier trilogy, so what has changed? Well, for one thing, in those examples, McGregor lost those fights badly. Notably, the fight with Poirier saw McGregor suffer a major leg injury as a result of going into the fight injured. So maybe Conor has learned his lesson about bumpy entry.

There’s also the fact that Conor only has 2 fights left on his contract and he may intend to not re-sign after his contract is up. And so, McGregor may want to make the last of his last fights in the UFC. And to do that, ideally, Conor wouldn’t want to get hurt. McGregor said in the post: “This next walk has to be and will be 100% Conor McGregor.” This clearly shows that he wants to be able to perform.

Youth is another factor. A younger McGregor might have gone through that, but the current McGregor can’t. In fact, in his youth, he went through injuries, such as against Chad Mendes, where he had a torn ACL and won. Similarly against Max Holloway he had a torn ACL and won. But, now Conor is older and has to take better care of his body now.

That means we should have McGregor back relatively soon, maybe in a month or two. It’s likely that the UFC will just reschedule the Chandler fight to a later date. So if Conor is healing nicely, expect an announcement in the not too distant future.

Then there are two teams left in the College World Series bracket.

For the third time in the last four years, the CWS Championship Series will be an All-SEC battle when No. 1 Tennessee and No. 3 Texas A&M square off at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha in Game 1 on Saturday.

Based on their standings and postseason success — both teams are a combined 16-1 since the regional round — this should be one of the more exciting CWS Championship Series matchups in years.

After avoiding a potential upset in Game 1 of the College World Series vs. FSU – thanks in part to a controversial check-swing call – Tennessee has played No. 1 seed Omaha in its last two games. In their CWS semifinal matchup with FSU, the Vols exploded at bats, defeating the Seminoles 7-2 behind a combined 5-for-9 day with three RBIs, three runs scored and two extra-base hits from Christian Moore and Blake. Burke.

On the other hand, No. 3 Texas A&M has been one of the most sound teams in Omaha through its three games. The Aggies, dealing with Jace LaViolette’s lingering hamstring injury, have outscored their three opponents 14-3 in that three-game stretch. If the Aggies can continue their impressive postseason success, Jim Schlossnagle’s squad will become the first TAMU team to win a major national title in men’s sports since 1939.

In addition to the SEC winning its fifth straight CWS title as a conference, it will be the third time in the last four years that a first-time champion will be crowned at the end of the streak.

Egypt to prosecute travel agencies for hajj ‘fraud’: Govt https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN14HAO438840KM26/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:14:26 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN14HAO438840KM26/

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly ordered 16 tourism companies stripped of their licenses and referred their managers to the prosecutor for illegal pilgrimages to Mecca on Saturday, the cabinet said.

The order came after countries whose citizens performed this year’s hajj reported more than 1,100 deaths, many attributed to Saudi Arabia’s oven-like summer heat.

An AFP tally on Friday, compiling official statements and reports from diplomats involved in the response, put the toll at 1,126, more than half of them from Egypt.

Arab diplomats told AFP earlier this week that the Egyptians had caused 658 deaths – 630 of them unregistered pilgrims.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered a “crisis cell” headed by Madbouly to look into the deaths of the Egyptian pilgrims.

“The prime minister ordered the revocation of the licenses of these companies, the referral of their managers to the prosecutor and the imposition of a fine for the benefit of the families of the pilgrims who died because of them,” the cabinet statement said.

It said the increase in the number of deaths of unregistered Egyptian pilgrims stemmed from some companies that “organized the hajj programs using a personal visit visa, which prevents its holders from entering Mecca” through official channels.

– 50,000 registered Egyptians –

The cabinet statement said more than 50,000 Egyptians had officially joined the pilgrimage and there were “31 deaths from chronic diseases”.

It said tour firms accused of organizing unauthorized hajj tours had failed to provide adequate services, “causing unregistered pilgrims to run out due to high temperatures”.

On Friday, a senior Saudi official defended the Gulf kingdom’s handling of the pilgrimage.

Hajj permits are allocated to countries on a quota system and distributed to individuals by lottery.

Even for those who can obtain them, the steep costs prompt many to attempt the hajj without a permit, even though they risk arrest and deportation if caught.

The irregular route, which can save pilgrims thousands of dollars, has become increasingly popular since 2019, when Saudi Arabia introduced a general tourist visa that makes it easier to enter the Gulf kingdom.

A senior Saudi official said the government had confirmed 577 deaths on the two busiest days of the hajj: Saturday, when pilgrims gathered for hours of prayer in the scorching sun on Mount Arafat, and Sunday, when they attended “stoning the devil”. ritual in Mina.

“This happened amid difficult weather conditions and a very harsh temperature,” the official said, acknowledging that the figure of 577 was partial and did not cover the entire hajj, which officially ended on Wednesday.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam that all Muslims of means must perform at least once in their lifetime.

Saudi officials previously said 1.8 million pilgrims participated this year, a similar number to last year, and that 1.6 million came from abroad.

The timing of the hajj is determined by the Islamic lunar calendar, moving forward each year in the Gregorian calendar.

For the past few years, the mostly outdoor rituals have fallen during Saudi Arabia’s sweltering summer.

Controversial measures have been implemented in a small town in Spain, including requiring residents to remove their pets if they are “particularly noisy”.

Villanueva de la Torre, a small municipality in the province of Guadalajara, Spain, has implemented measures to preserve the aesthetics and tranquility of the place, but the regulations have sparked controversy.

According to village regulations, “it is prohibited to hang or display clothes, articles of clothing, or household articles on balconies, windowsills, outdoor patios, or facades of buildings facing or visible from public streets.”

Another measure that has sparked debate is the ban on dogs barking during rest hours.

Guadalajara, Spain (Image: JMChezal)

The regulations state that “between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. it is forbidden to leave animals on terraces and balconies if their noise disturbs the rest of the neighbors.” Other times, they have to be removed by owners if they are “particularly noisy”.

Dogs are prohibited from barking during rest hours and from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., it is prohibited to leave animals on terraces and balconies if their noises disturb the rest of the neighbors.”

Other times, animals must be removed from their owners if they are “particularly noisy,” according to infobae.

These measures were adopted in December 2012 under the mandate of a mayor from the People’s Party.

Villanueva de la Torre has become an attractive place for those who want to live in a quieter and more accessible environment, away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.

The town has grown from 114 residents in 1991 to about 6,554 this year due to urban development.

However, one resident expressed his bewilderment at the regulations to La Vanguardia newspaper: “I don’t understand why we can’t hang clothes outside. It’s very common all over Spain.”

Another resident told Xataka, “Controlling the dogs from barking seems like an impossible task. I don’t know how we’re going to manage this.”

The massive, glittering port wears down the mercilessly and repeatedly exposed Lions – The Roar https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN09HAO438827KM50/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:09:50 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN09HAO438827KM50/

What happened on Saturday afternoon at the Adelaide Oval was less ships passing through the night and more ships boarding each other and slaughtering the crew, leaving with all the booty they could carry, then removing the guns and sending the doomed vessel to Davy Jones. ‘ Closet.

Such was the ferocious battering Brisbane gave Port Adelaide in a match that was shaping up to be a header; ignominiously, on a day the Power set aside to celebrate 20 years since the AFL’s greatest ever grand final triumph in 2004.

It was a spectacle to ratify the starkly contrasting fortunes of these two sides over the past month and a half.

The Lions, after a nightmare start in finals defence, have won five and drawn one of their last seven, unearthed a group of gems following a horror injury and are truly back in the finals, if not the prime minister, stirs.

The Power, meanwhile, are on a three-game losing streak, all against sides theoretically at their level, and have been thoroughly outplayed in all of them. Had they not pulled a rabbit out of the hat against Hawthorn in Round 10, they would have lost four of their last five.

Making the result all the more remarkable were the performances of a quarter of the key wheels in both line-ups at Adelaide Oval.

Eric Hipwood celebrates a goal.

For the first time since his infamous Showdown hamstring injury, Connor Rozee and Zak Butters were both in top form and the pair flew the flag all afternoon to account for an astonishing percentage of the Power’s total disposals (it was almost 30 at hundred of their total). teams at halftime) and give Port an edge in center rebounds, the only stat that went their way.

At the other end, Hugh McCluggage, best on ground against St Kilda last week, was almost completely shut down at the break by Willem Drew, reduced to five disposals and minimal impact; even quieter were Harris Andrews and Charlie Cameron, the former kept busy enough by the young Ollie Lord to keep his usually outstanding interception numbers down, the latter not given an inch by the hulking Miles Bergman, perhaps the only real winner of Powers from processes.

However, this game was a blowout of the worst kind since the Lions stopped wasting every second chance in front of goal midway through the second term; totally dominant in the number of clearances, winning the inside 50 nicely and locking it down with a combination of tackle pressure and an excellent set-up outside the 50 to deny any recovery, the Power didn’t get an inch until things they opened recently. quarter with the game well and truly gone.

Most of the brutality (pardon the pun), as it has been regularly in recent weeks with Brisbane, came from the stoppages; a key strength last season, the Lions’ clearance scoring is back to a frightening extent even without dominating the numbers as emphatically as they did against the Power.

This is the second time in three weeks, the other against the Western Bulldogs, that the Lions have racked up clearances, winning that game 50-32 and handing Port a 42-27 smackdown. Particularly relentless in their attacking half, Brisbane kicked five goals to no score from such stoppages at half-time alone and had a further nine goals from clearances from the final siren.

That number is both a big credit to the Lions’ lethal combination of scrappy ball chasers like Lachie Neale and Josh Dunkley and trouble-free biters like McCluggage and Zac Bailey, as well as a considerable uptick in form from Oscar McInerney in ruck; but it’s also an indictment of Port’s defensive work, with a midfield that is an attacking force at its best but regularly turns cruel the other way.

Take this stop inside the Lions’ forward 50 late in the second term as an example.

While Jordon Sweet is being bullied off the ball far too easily by McInerney – neither he nor skipper Ivan Soldo were the solution Port sought in last year’s trade period – most other teams have safeties for to protect himself from such a trick.

Not Port Adelaide. The two loose ends at shortstop Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Rozee are effectively witches’ hats with a hole between them and no communication in filling it. Both stand, except stock still and painfully slow to react, as McInerney clears the ball from the ruck and dribbles through goal.

But if you look closely, there are even more mistakes: Willem Drew is meant to guard McCluggage, but as the throw comes in, the Lion spins around him as he pushes in front of the stop, so that by the time the ball reaches McInerney, it’s goal side and no touch. If McInerney had only batted the ball instead of grabbing it himself, McCluggage was prepared to go through the open gap of Zerk-Thatcher and Rozee and hit the goal anyway.

The less said about Kane Farrell’s job on Cam Rayner the better: Rayner has his arm fully extended to push the Port defender and, as with McCluggage, by the time the ball reaches the ruckmen, that’s gate side and contactless. A simple touch at the back and Rayner runs free and pulls into open space to his left for another likely goal.

There’s more to dissect here: the lack of a keeper on the line or even in the box for McInerney’s exact dribble, Ollie Wines being absorbed in the stoppage and leaving his man Dunkley free at the back, where a simple handball ball. he would clearly have given him a free-kick on goal too, Esava Ratugolea not even having a token arm over Joe Daniher as they watched the game, starter Logan Evans inexplicably given the job of guarding him Charlie Cameron and get away with it. Hold while leaving it on goal and running into the open box.

It’s basically a Where’s Wally of all structural failures; honestly, the Lions could have scored from five or six different players, five or six different ways.

The comparison between this letdown and the Lions’ only defensive operator at that stop, Jarrod Berry, is stark: Berry maintains constant contact with Butters, pushing and shoving him away from the ruckmen’s optimal drop zone, and only gives way when his kick McInerney leaves. his boot

It’s no wonder that in the five weeks leading up to their slaughter at Adelaide Oval, Port ranked dead last in points conceded from stoppages, conceding more than 43 points a game. Only West Coast, who have been historically bad at this for two years, and Geelong, who simply don’t have any A-graders on the ball to speak of, fare worse.

Keep in mind that it should be a major power; Rozee, Butters and Horne-Francis appeared at the start of the year, the trio meant to lead the club back to glory, with all aggressive monsters at their best. However, they’re just not clicking at the moment, while the grunt work that should be done in their place by defensive midfielders Drew and Ollie Wines leaves a lot to be desired.

The Lions mercilessly exposed every element of vulnerability in the Power midfield, with McInerney doing what he wanted in the ruck, Dunkley and Neale winning stacks of hard balls, with 35 possessions contested between them, and Bailey and Rayner pushing to stoppages from forward half. and acting as the perfect players to receive and drive the ball for long periods more than made up for McCluggage’s quiet play with 11 50s between them.

They were equally lethal in picking apart Port’s vulnerable backline and in particular the key defensive trio of Aliir Aliir, Zerk-Thatcher and Ratugolea; of course they didn’t get much help from further afield as the Lions dominated territory and supply, but it was still scary how little influence they could provide by air.

Used higher than in recent weeks, Eric Hipwood’s leading and roaming role ripped off the ideal structure of Power; too often, once from Ratugolea or Aliir they would be dragged away from the defensive 50 and into no man’s land, with the Lions free to outrun them on their way to goal.

Logan Morris’ goal below is an act of individual brilliance, but it’s worth noting that both Aliir and Ratugolea, Port’s interceptors, are outside the defensive 50 when the young Lion picks the ball up. Andrews simply wouldn’t be caught dead letting himself be thrown out of position like that.

The arrival of Ratugolea and Zerk-Thatcher was ideally intended to allow Aliir to be a tall, loose third interceptor, similar to what Jack Payne allows Andrews to do.

But it seems to have muddled his thinking and given him a less defined role and bit his Power hard when Zerk-Thatcher was taken out at halftime.

Just a minute into the third term Aliir is guarding Hipwood as Bailey pulls a ball into the 50 and his scrambled thought process is evident for all to see.

He and Hipwood arrive too late to influence the contest, but Aliir commits the cardinal sin of not looking at the ball and instead guessing where it will end up, choosing to run in behind where Daniher and Ratugolea fly for leg.

Not only is his assumption wrong, but in that moment he has forgotten all about Hipwood, who certainly does not make this mistake: with his opponent out of the picture, he watches as the leg leaves his hands, walks perfectly and has all the time which it needs to really shoot left.

Equally astounding was the total lack of cohesion, or even basic communication, between Aliir and Ratugolea as a key defensive pairing.

Ideally you would have one guarding the space 30-50 meters from goal from a center bounce and the other closer to goal allowing a high presence for any kind of shot inside 50.

But look where they were both dragged for the goal below: way too high, allowing the ball to be kicked long and over the Power’s best (and indeed only) interception marking options.

It should be noted, however, that the ground ball defending against Port’s smaller backs was abysmal in the clip above as well.

As it is below, when Ratugolea and Darcy Byrne-Jones make two of the most pathetic tackle attempts you’ll see for some time, letting Charlie Cameron escape for a late goal.

So obvious are these weaknesses that they might as well light up neon signs explaining to the world how Port Adelaide can be beaten.

True, not every side will have a forward line as fearsome as the Lions’, nor a midfield brigade as fit and multi-faceted.

Most, however, will have at least one of these traits, and any good side worth seeing will give the Powers some serious pain unless Ken Hinkley can radically change what they’re doing.

Still in eight, Port Adelaide’s form puts them in jeopardy for the rest of the season – and how easy and good they are to beat should be downright terrifying for anyone affiliated with Alberton heading into the second half of the season which would must, and probably is, final or escape for the coach.

One charged, others wanted in theft scheme https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN08HAO438825KM57/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:08:57 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN08HAO438825KM57/

One man was charged Friday and at least seven others are wanted in a scheme in which customers at a Premier Boulevard business took items without paying after the items were scanned and voided.

Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Shane Guyant said more than $3,000 in merchandise was stolen in a scheme believed to have started in early May that allegedly involved the accused man – Ailito Roberto Estrada, 27 years, of Emporia and Weldon – aided and abetted the theft by scanning. their purchases and then canceling them so customers can exit without paying.

Estrada was identified through an extensive investigation after police received a report of a possible theft Thursday, the police chief said.

On Friday, Lt. DA Newsome and Officer C. Majette arrested Estrada at his workplace.

He was charged with eight counts of theft by employee, eight counts of conspiracy and eight counts of theft.

He was given a $28,000 secured bond and a July 25 court date.

He was also given an additional $30,000 bond, according to Halifax County Detention Center records, after a .32-caliber handgun and 8 grams of cocaine “were well concealed in his crotch” and were not immediately found during the initial search, Guyant. said.

Guyant said Estrada “was aggressively frisked by an extremely diligent detention officer” during intake.

The state court calendar shows, for those offenses, he was charged with criminal possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, criminal possession of cocaine, criminal possession of a weapon by a prisoner, criminal possession of a controlled substance on prison premises and felony carrying a concealed weapon.

Guyant said the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force seized those accounts.

He has a July 2 district court date on those charges.

Meanwhile, during Newsome’s investigation, he also learned of at least seven people who benefited from Estrada’s actions.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking information regarding the identity of these individuals. Call Crimestoppers at 252-583-444 or visit its website

Steve Clarke’s lucky charm in Hungary as he approaches biggest game as Scotland manager https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN08HAO438823KM22/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:08:22 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN08HAO438823KM22/

STEVE CLARKE has had many memorable nights as Scotland boss so far.

Euro 2020 qualification brought our nation its first major tournament since 1998.

Steve Clarke in action on his Scotland debut against Hungary

And Clarke was just a few games away from qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, losing in the semi-final to Ukraine.

But now he has the chance to take the nation through to their first knockout round of a major final as they face Hungary in what could be his biggest game as boss.

Scotland could find themselves in the next round with a third-place finish due to the format of the competition, but will be hoping they can do what it takes to finish second in the table, ahead of Switzerland.

To do that, Clarke’s side need to beat Hungary, hope the Swiss lose to Germany AND overturn a 6-goal deficit.

As a player, Clarke managed just six caps for his country and was not taken to any major finals in what was a disappointing international career.

But one of his appearances and more importantly his DEBUT for Scotland came against this weekend’s opponents Hungary and he will be hoping it is a lucky charm.

He has certainly already made up for his disappointing performance and could be one step away from something historic.

Scotland have qualified for 11 major tournaments throughout their history, but have fallen at the first hurdle each time.

But on the 12th time he asked Clarke could be the one to make history.

But they will have to do without one of their most important players in Kieran Tierney, who has left Germany after picking up a thigh injury.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke confused when journalist introduces himself as ‘Steve Clarke’ during Euro 2024 press conference

He will return to Arsenal after netting the equalizer against Switzerland earlier in the week.

Assistant Scotland boss John Carver said in his recent press conference: “He was stretchered off last night. He has a hamstring problem and as we speak is on his way home to be assessed by Arsenal.

“That’s all I can say at the moment.”

It’s not good news for Clarke, who are already without Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson, who have both been ruled out since the start of the competition.

Leandro Trossard’s father reveals who is to blame for Euro 2024’s poor form https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN07HAO438821KM57/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:07:57 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN07HAO438821KM57/

Leandro Trossard’s father has blamed Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco for his son’s disappointing performance in the nation’s Euro 2024 opener.

Belgium were shocked 1-0 by Slovakia in their opening match of their Euro 2024 campaign, conceding a seventh-minute goal from Ivan Schranz at Frankfurt’s Waldstadion.

Despite conceding early in the game, the Red Devils sputtered in the final third and ultimately failed to convert any of their 16 efforts on goal. They also saw two goals scored after lengthy VAR checks.

Following such a disastrous defeat, the Belgian media predictably pointed the finger of blame for the loss of a number of under-performing players, with Arsenal striker Trossard coming under fire.

Talking to Since Morgen about his son’s poor outing against Slovakia, Trossard’s father insisted manager Tedesco was to blame for the poor performance.

“I don’t think Tedesco is a good coach for Belgium. Although he doesn’t have the stubbornness of Roberto Martinez,” he said.

“Leandro is criticized but he was moved from one position to another. That way you don’t get a line in your game.

“Don’t underestimate those Romanians, Ukraine wasn’t involved in their first match. But I hope I’m wrong, the Belgians win and the enthusiasm ignites”.

Belgium will be hoping to get their Euro 2024 campaign back on track on Saturday night when they face Group E pace-setters Romania. The Eastern European nation were thoroughly impressive in their opening game of the tournament, beating Ukraine 3-0 in Munich.

The Nairobi City Thunder basketball team won the first game of the semi-finals of the playoffs, defeating heavyweights Equity Dumas 79-77 in the Kenya National Basketball Men’s Premier League on Friday night at the Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi.

It was a closely contested tie in the packed gymnasium, but the Thunder kept their composure to maintain their beautifully presented course throughout this season.

The Thunder led the first quarter 18-16, while the second ended 25-20 for a 43-36 halftime lead.

Both teams were impressive out of the break, tying the score at 19-19 in the third quarter before the Thunder pulled off another 17-12 win in the final quarter to secure the two-point margin.

Thunder guard and captain of Griffins Ligare was the best, scoring a game-high 15 points, Albert Odero and Garang Diing added a combined 27 points.

Despite the win, Thunder head coach Brad Ibs admitted it wasn’t a walk in the park.

“It was a very competitive game, a very intense game, but I’m happy we managed to win. We have to work on our defense as we plan to play the second game on Sunday,” Ibs said.

On his part, Equity Dumas head coach Carrey Odhiambo applauded his players despite losing.

“We played well as we all saw it was a very competitive match. Now we have to work on our mistakes to avoid defeat in game two,” said Odhiambo.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday, in the second match.

Rain creates detours in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN01HAO438809KM55/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:01:55 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN01HAO438809KM55/

THE rain EVENT we’ve been dealing with over the past few days has created a mess. There are a lot of detours to deal with. One of the most recent is 57th Street in Sioux Falls at the interstate tunnel just west of Western Avenue.

Sioux Falls isn’t the only wet place. Friday saw flood warnings from Chamberlain, South Dakota to Jackson, Minnesota and from Sioux City to Brookings. The water came and came and came.

From country roads to city streets, travel has been and will continue to be a challenge until some of the water finds its way south. Omaha, it’s coming.

The South Dakota DOT has a long way to go from Sioux Falls to Sioux City;

INTERSTATE 29 ALTERNATE ROUTE UPDATE (Saturday, June 22, 2024 – Update #1, 7:00 a.m.)

The Interstate 29 alternate route from Sioux Falls to Sioux City, IA is no longer viable as several sections of the Iowa portion of the detour are now impassable due to high water. I-29 remains blocked at Exit 50 (Centerville) and Exit 62 (Canton).

Drivers are advised to use the 511 Traveler Information Systems for South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa to plan routes around these impassable roads. The 511 resources for each state can be found at:

And this is just the beginning. The Mitchell area is dealing with too much water. The amounts of water that will be working south over the next few days will be incredible. Those who live along the James, Vermillion or Big Sioux rivers will be anxiously waiting for the water to recede. Canton, Brandon and many other river towns will work extra.

John of Milltown reports that the James River flows from hill to hill. Dan at Armor reported nearly inches last week.

Side roads are also affected. Anywhere in southeastern South Dakota, you’ll want to think ahead and be prepared to reroute.

New Mexico judge rejects bid to compel new testimony from film gunsmith in Alec Baldwin trial https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN01HAO438807KM28/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 16:01:28 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/23/bafork/IN01HAO438807KM28/

By MORGAN LEE – Associated Press

SANTA FE, NM (AP) — A New Mexico judge on Friday rejected a request to use immunity to compel the testimony of a camera gunman in the involuntary manslaughter trial of actor Alec Baldwin, who fatally shot a cinematographer during rehearsal for the western film “Rust”. “

Gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted in March of involuntary manslaughter for her role in the shooting of Halyna Hutchins at a filming ranch and was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Her statements to investigators and workplace safety regulators are likely to feature prominently in Baldwin’s trial, scheduled for July.

Additional testimony could be limited by the gunsmith’s reluctance to testify, and Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said Friday that other witnesses can fill in most of the gaps if she does not testify. In a pretrial interview in May, Gutierrez-Reed exercised her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and refused to answer all questions.

People read and…

“It’s pretty clear they’re not going to cooperate,” Marlowe Sommer said. “I haven’t heard of anything that he could testify to that someone else wouldn’t testify to.”

But the judge acknowledged that Gutierrez-Reed could offer new testimony about gun safety training and whether Baldwin fully participated.

Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey indicated the state may ask Gutierrez-Reed to testify without immunity. Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed both oppose efforts to compel her testimony.

Baldwin was instrumental in her trial, which highlighted gun safety protocols and his authority as co-producer and lead actor on “Rust.”

Gutierrez-Reed is appealing her conviction and was also charged separately with carrying a firearm into a Santa Fe bar weeks before the fatal shooting.

An attorney for Gutierrez-Reed said forcing her to testify, even with immunity, would “virtually eliminate” the possibility of a fair trial on the pending firearms charge and could disrupt her appeal.

The virtual hearing also opened the way for testimony at trial from a “Rust” crew member who says he witnessed the shooting at close range.

In a recent pretrial interview, boom operator Zac Sneesby “revealed that he was standing very close to Mr. Baldwin when he shot and killed Halyna Hutchins,” special prosecutor Erlinda Ocampo Johnson said in court Friday. “Mr. Sneesby specifically said he saw Mr. Baldwin pull the trigger. And as you know, the defense position has always been that he didn’t pull the trigger. Well, now there’s an eyewitness.”

Also during Friday’s hearing, Marlowe Sommer ruled against defense attorneys’ motion to dismiss the case because they said Baldwin had no reason to believe the gun could contain live ammunition and was not “subjectively aware” of risks.

The court postponed until Monday the hearing of a second motion to dismiss based on the argument that the firearm was badly damaged during FBI forensic tests before it could be examined for possible changes that could exonerate the actor.

“The government took the most critical piece of evidence in this case — the firearm — and destroyed it by repeatedly and pointlessly hitting it with a hammer,” defense attorneys said in court filings. “Government agents knew the firearm would not survive.”

Baldwin’s lawyers point to a previously undisclosed expert analysis that points to uncertainty about the origin of the “tool marks” on the gun’s firing mechanism. The hearing is scheduled to resume on Monday.

During the fatal rehearsal on October 21, 2021, Baldwin was pointing the gun at Hutchins when it went off, killing her and injuring director Joel Souza, who survived. Baldwin says he pulled back the hammer of the gun but did not pull the trigger.

Prosecutors plan to present evidence at trial that they say shows the firearm “could not have fired without a pull of the trigger” and was functioning properly before the shooting.

At Gutierrez-Reed’s trial, an FBI expert testified that the gun was fully functional with safeties when it arrived at an FBI lab. The expert said he had to hit the fully cocked gun with a hammer and break it to get the gun to fire without pulling the trigger.

Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.

Marlowe Sommer previously denied another motion to dismiss Baldwin, ruling that the grand jury was able to make an independent judgment on the indictment.

Last year, special prosecutors dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin, saying they were told the gun may have been tampered with before the shooting and malfunctioned. But they pivoted after receiving a new analysis of the gun and successfully pursued a grand jury indictment.

Eng puts BMW ahead in second practice at Watkins Glen https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN59HAO438803KM09/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 15:59:09 +0000 https://www.simbaforkids.ch/2024/06/22/bafork/IN59HAO438803KM09/

There were highs and lows for BMW M Team RLL in the second practice session for Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, with Philipp Eng setting the best time of the GTP field in the BMW M Hybrid V8 no. 24, shortly before Connor De Philllippi came on. No. 25 M Hybrid V8 in the barrier to end the session with a red flag a minute and a half early.

No. 24 spun out of Turn 1, sliding across the track and hitting the drivers’ right barrier, ending the teams’ opportunities to run a qualifying session at the end of the session. That probably kept Eng’s top time of 1m33.725s (130.59mph) set in the last 20 minutes of the session. Mathieu Jaminet posted the closest time to Eng, a 1m33.900 in the No. 963 Porsche Penske Motorsports. 6, to drive Renger van der Zande in the Cadillac Racing V-Series.R no. 01 by just 0.058s.

Tom Blomqvist set the team’s best time no. 31 Whelen Cadillac Racing and fourth best overall, with Richard Westbrook putting the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 fifth.

So it’s like forming a new conference together and trying to get back to the top.”

UCF finished 31-25, including 12-15 in the conference last season. And while an appearance in the NCAA Tournament was special, Willis believes more could have been done.

“We met everybody’s expectations, but I still felt like we could have done more in the Big 12,” she said. “Our competition was at an all-time high, and we were facing the best of the best each weekend, and we did a good job. Addison Rae doesn’t shy away from bold makeup, from bright, bold eyeshadows to vibrant lipstick shades. Just last week, she confirmed herself that ’90s blue eyeshadow is making a comeback.

But when it comes to her hair, Addison doesn’t usually take many risks. Sure, she mixes it up with her hairstyles, like when she sported that cute prom-inspired hairstyle and even experimented with going from brunette to sandy blonde and tried bold colors.

But the He’s All That actor seems to be less adventurous when it comes to her hair – well, until now.

For the Met Gala, Addison not only changed her hair color, but also cut off most of her hair.

Celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel cut Addison’s hair into a blunt lob that looked super chic. As if one hair transformation wasn’t enough, Addison dyed her hair platinum blonde and it really suits her.

Posting images of the look on Instagram, Adir wrote: “New new haircut for this baby tonight @addisonraee for the @voguemagazine MET GALA.”

He added: “I chopped. We colored. I was going for the supermodel vibes from the early 2000s.”

…and we mostly approve.

Conor McGregor has strongly denied he is in rehab and slammed UFC legend Chael Sonnen after the 47-year-old claimed he was getting help for substance abuse.

The Irishman was due to fight Michael Chandler later this month, having not fought in the UFC since his 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier.

However, their fight was postponed due to injury.

Sonnen recently said that McGregor cannot return to the Octagon due to alcohol issues.

Conor McGregor has strongly denied he is in rehab and slammed UFC legend Chael Sonnen after the 47-year-old claimed he was getting help for substance abuse.

But the 35-year-old hit back fiercely in a since-deleted tweet on X.

McGregor vehemently denied the claims and said: “Chael shut your pie hole h*e. Knock on the ground and knock”.

Sonnen’s comments were also dismissed by his representative, Karen Kessler, who says McGregor is hopeful he will agree to a new date for his fight with Chandler.

“The fight was canceled after an injury he sustained during training. He is looking forward to meeting again,” she said.

“Mr McGregor is with his family – and any other reports are incorrect.”

McGregor previously revealed that he was actually giving up alcohol to focus on his return to the UFC.

However, the 35-year-old shared photos of himself drinking at his Black Forged Inn pub in Dublin just days after he retired.

McGregor took to Instagram to show off his broken toe, while admitting he was devastated to be forced to postpone the fight.

“Man, we’ve been so prepared for this fight, it’s absolutely gut-wrenching to take it,” he said.

“I want the new Bugatti to justify to myself to get it now, without putting these fights on the bank.

“We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing full protective gear and hit my elbow and broke my toe.

“It takes a few weeks, that’s all. I couldn’t justify to my team, or the fans, that I’m doing the hampered walk again. That walk showed.

“This next ride has to be, and will be, 100% Conor McGregor. The fans deserve it and we’re getting closer.

“There was a slight loss of concentration and a nuisance from an injury. Ready. Learn the lesson and move on.

“I’ll get that back. I have too. I’ve got two fights left on my contract.

“I’ve got Bugattis and more yachts on my mind. I’m coming to shine. I just have to take my time. Because I’ve got yachts and Bentleys and villas and everything else.

“You know yourself. But get me, I’ll be back. See you soon. See you at the top. Chandler or not.”

Fans flooded McGregor with messages of support, with one saying: ‘Let’s go king, the crowd is waiting for you.

“You’ll be back in no time bro, the best is yet to come,” said a second.

And a third said, “I am the champion, you are the man.”

Chael Sonnen

Conor McGregor has responded to UFC icon Chael Sonnen’s claims after his fight with Michael Chandler was postponed

GETTY

Chandler, meanwhile, was also frustrated by the delay.

Speaking earlier this week, he said: “I pulled the rug out from under me at the last possible moment.

“I had just finished my last sparring session on Thursday morning, I had been hearing noises since Monday obviously, but I actually got the call about an hour after my last sparring session was over. An hour after a holiday.

“Anyone who’s trained for a fight or anybody who’s gone through a training camp for something, you go through a really hard block and then to get to the top, you go all the way, you don’t go hard anymore, to throw yourself into fire and risk injury, over training, bumps, bruises, cuts, all those different things.

“I was just done with it. The happiest and healthiest, hardest to kill, most dangerous man I’ve ever been in my entire life, at that moment.

“About 30 minutes later, I got a call that it was all for nothing.”
