Canaries give up Sioux City

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Canary’s four-game winning streak ended Friday after being defeated 10-4 by rival Sioux City.

The Explorers hit for three runs in the top of the third inning before Shamoy Christopher hit a two-run home run in the bottom half.

Sioux City, however, went on to score the next five runs before Josh Rehwaldt led off the sixth inning with a double and home run on Hunter Clanin’s sacrifice fly.

Each team tacked on a run in the seventh frame, with the Canaries taking advantage of an RBI fielder’s choice before Sioux City hit a pair of solo home runs in the eighth.

Rehwaldt doubled twice and reached base four times, while Christopher finished with a pair of hits to lead the Birds offensively. Sioux Falls is now 11-7 and will even the series on Saturday at 5:35pm.
