Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson and Jean Smart to star in FX’s ‘Fargo’ miniseries

Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson and Jean Smart will star alongside Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons in the second part of the film. Fargo, FX’s miniseries franchise based on the Coen brothers’ cult film. Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Bokeem Woodbine, Jeffrey Donovan and Angus Sampson round out the film’s recurring cast. FargoThe new chapter of 10 episodes, set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, SD and Luverne, MN, where a young state police officer Lou Solverson (Wilson), recently returned from Vietnam, will tackle a new “true crime” case.

Wilson’s Solverson is a Minnesota state trooper four years back from Vietnam, where he served in the Navy. A humble and competent man, Lou is a devoted husband and father. Danson will play Hank Larsson, the sheriff of Rock County, Minnesota. A staunch World War II vet who embodies a certain cowboy poetry, Hank is Lou’s father-in-law. Smart will play Floyd Gerhardt, the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family. She’s been by her husband’s side for 40 years, but now that he’s out of the picture she thinks it’s her turn to run things.

Noah Hawley, writer-showrunner of the first Emmy-winning series, is back and will executive produce with Joel & Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield and John Cameron for MGM Television and FX Productions. Production will begin in Calgary in January 2015 for a premiere next fall.
