A man has died after falling at a popular waterfall in the NSW Blue Mountains.

An ambulance helicopter was called but was canceled after the man died at the scene.

He has not yet been formally identified and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Visitors often jump off a 20-meter section of the waterfall and into the water below.

The falls, which are described as a “must visit” for tourists, can be difficult to climb and can be slippery.

“Nice place but hard to get to with lots of slippery rocks and steep metal stairs,” wrote one person on Google.

“Be aware that the stairs and rocks can be quite slippery and muddy. Better get your hiking shoes,” said another person.
