Obituary of Marion Sperry – East Hartford, Manchester, CT

SPERRY, Marion J. (Rock) Marion J. (Rock) Sperry, 87, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Archibald P. Sperry, passed away Friday (July 18, 2008) at St. John’s Hospital. Francis, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Sperry was born in Hartford and was a longtime resident of East Hartford before moving to the Manchester community. Her many interests included her flower garden and the concerts she attended with her daughter. She was an avid New York Yankees and U.Conn. Fan of women’s basketball, but the times she cherished were those spent with her family on vacations and holidays. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Skowronek and her husband, Henry of East Hartford; and by her two grandchildren, Mark Skowronek and his wife, Susan of East Hartford and Michelle St. Amand and her husband, Kevin of South Windsor. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Mara and Alexander Skowronek and Jake and Max St. Amand and her special niece, Carol Miler of Windsor Locks along with several other nephews and nieces. Mrs. Sperry was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Donafrio. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, on Tuesday, July 22, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary, East Hartford. Mrs. Sperry’s family will receive callers at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
