Portland could be looking to move up in the draft lottery

The Portland Trail Blazers finished the 2023-24 season with a terrible 21-61 record, giving them a solid chance to land a high pick in the upcoming NBA draft. However, Portland fell to 7th and 14th overall with their two selections, giving them two more chances to land some extra talent.

However, it appears the Blazers may be looking to jump higher in the lottery. According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo, Portland may take the No. 3, currently with the Houston Rockets.

“Rival teams believe Portland is looking to move up in the draft lottery, potentially as high as No. 3, which is currently Houston’s pick.”

There has been talk of the Rockets looking to move the pick so Portland can look to take advantage. He could try to pack #7 and no. 14 with other pieces to entice Houston to move the pick to them.

The Rockets are a team on the rise, so landing players like guard Malcolm Brogdon or Jerami Grant could be interesting. Portland should look to move early in the draft, even if this class is weaker in every way.
