High school teams compete in Rivarly on the River at the Wichita Riverfest

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Several high school teams competed in the Rivalry on the River at the Wichita Riverfest on Sunday.

Teams of 10 competed in seven events, including:

  1. tug of war
  2. Tricycle racing
  3. Relay race with a twist
  4. ICT trivia
  5. Not your grandparents Rock Paper Scissors
  6. The magic tarp

Participants could win prizes and bragging rights.

“We have six different area high schools and we have seven teams from those schools and they’re going to compete, and somebody just won the tug of war. And we have some great QuikTrip gift cards for them as prizes. We will feed them lunch, but most importantly, it gives kids from different schools a chance to connect and compete in a competitive and friendly environment,” said Wendy Johnson, who is on the operations committee.

The River Rivalry is an event brought back from previous years. Johnson said other new events are included this year.
