Joplin Library Summer Program Brings Adventure to Life | KSNF/CODE

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Public Library kicks off summer library activities this week.

It’s through the theme of “adventure,” the summer reading program, reading challenge programs, and even dinosaurs will help bring the adventure to life.

On Monday, there will be a guest who will bring an interactive dinosaur puppet show.

The show will have dinosaurs of all kinds brought to life with the help of animatronics.

As for the teenagers, their adventure begins with takeaway kits, the first being a DIY vision board kit.

Joplin Public Library Children’s Librarian Christina Matekel-Gibson says the goal is to keep summer fun.

“A lot of the events will be organized by the library staff, but then we also bring in special guests to make the library a fun summer place, kind of a destination when the kids don’t have school,” Christina Matekel said. Gibson, children’s librarian at Joplin Public Library.

Starting June 8th is a Super Saturday called “Camp Read A Lotta.”

There are also summer reading challenges for adults as well.
