Springfield police have made an arrest in a fatal stabbing

Springfield Police Department (SPD) detectives have made an arrest in the homicide that occurred in the 3000 block of Louise Lane on June 1st.

Julie E. Marshall, 41, of Springfield was arrested for first degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Marshall is currently in the Sangamon County Jail awaiting formal charges from the Sangamon County District Attorney.

On June 1 at approximately 4:33 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of East North Grand for a 23-year-old man who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, the man was found inside a vehicle bleeding from a stab wound.

He was transported to HSHS St. John’s for treatment, but did not survive. Springfield police also responded to the 3000 block of Louise Lane, where the incident occurred.
