MADRID (AP) — Kylian Mbappé has signed a contract to play for Real Madrid in a union between the sport’s top talent and his most successful club.

Madrid said on Monday that Mbappé had agreed to a five-year contract.

The 25-year-old World Cup winner with France joins a Madrid squad that is already loaded with talent and is still celebrating a record 15th European Cup title.

So far, Mbappé has only played club football for French teams – first at Monaco and for the last seven seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, who he left as a free agent after failing to convince him to extend his contract .

In 2021, Madrid were rejected after making a €180m offer to PSG – the same amount PSG paid Monaco for a teenage Mbappé years ago.
