UK fans react to recent Kentucky Baseball win, next steps

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – We’ve seen it come rain or shine, Wildcats fans are showing up. And this Kentucky baseball team gives them plenty to root for.

“They are moving forward. And I know he’s playing at home now. This is a huge advantage. We are excited. All my friends in the group chat are excited about it,” said fan Brady Corman.

The Wildcats defeated Indiana State on Sunday in front of a packed house at Kentucky Proud Park. Now the team advances to the Super Regional. Where they will host Oregon State this weekend.

“We went last Friday to watch the regional match. It was a really cool experience to see how excited the city of Lexington is getting for the team and how excited they were for the postseason run they are making,” said another fan Will Cockrell.

On Sunday night, the team won the program’s second regional championship. Now they’re going to do something they’ve never done before…host a super regional.

“I’ve been in Transy, so it’s something I haven’t seen in the last five years that I’ve been in Lexington. How excited the campus, the community, and really the whole city has become.”

Those I’ve talked to on campus say that whether they’re traditionally big baseball fans or not, they’re sure to tune in to cheer on their Cats this weekend.

“We are finally there as we should be. It’s exciting, it’s fun.”

“No matter what sport, they’re cheering for the cats.”

As Kentucky heads to the Supers for the third time in seven years, the fans have one final message for the team.

“Go cats!”

The team will play starting Friday or Saturday, game times will be announced on Tuesday.
