Microchip Clinic At TCHS Tuesday!

Microchip Clinic At TCHS Tuesday!

FOR THE CHIPPED FURBABY

The Tri-County Humane Society offers a $10 + tax microchip clinic Tuesday, June 4, from 2 to 6 p.m. The reason TCHS is holding another microchipping event is to help increase stray-free recovery rates in our community. If your pet has a microchip and is lost, it will be much easier for TCHS and other locations to reunite you with your pet if it is found.

Microchips are available to the community year-round for $20, but if budgets are tight, this is a great time to come and protect your pets.

EVENT DETAILS

Microchipping Event Location:

Tri-County Humane Society
735 8th Street NE
St. Cloud MN

ENJOY WITH WALK-INS!

Entries are welcome and encouraged. If your cat or dog does not have a microchip, there are many good reasons to get one. If you adopted your cat or dog from TCHS, there is no need to come to the clinic because your pet was microchipped when you adopted it.

WHAT IS A MICROCHIP?

The microchips are very small, about the size of a piece of rice, and are inserted under the skin with a syringe, a kind of vaccine. It reminds me that you got your ears pierced. It’s a quick, simple and easy process. It is not dangerous for your pet.

MICROCHIPS ARE NOT TRACKING DEVICES

The microchip is not a tracking device, but rather has a unique code. So if you find a lost pet, or if someone finds yours, they can take it to any animal control facility, like the Tri-County Humane Society, to see if there’s a chip. If it does, a code appears and the recovery service can locate the pet’s owner’s name and phone number to contact them. Sometimes, however, tags are not registered for a person; they usually contain information about where the pet obtained the tag and can sometimes be traced back to the date and place of adoption. That location may then be able to find the last owner of the pet and bring it back home safely.

As mentioned earlier, if you adopted your pet from TCHS then there is no need to come as every pet that leaves TCHS has been microchipped. If you would like more information about microchipping your pet, click HERE for more information.
