Fargo Police Chief: Crackdown on street racing and dangerous driving, including impounding vehicles

(Fargo, ND) — Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski says he has a plan to crack down on street racing, loud mufflers and dangerous driving on city streets.

“It’s a public safety issue, it’s also a quality of life issue from racing and just dangerous driving, show driving, things like that, to loud or illegal exhaust systems that people have on their cars , sometimes on motorcycles, along with the increase in fleeing vehicles that we’re also seeing,” Zibolski said.

Zibolksi made the comments during a news conference Monday afternoon at the Fargo Police Department.

The chief says his plan includes taking possession of the vehicles and declaring them a public nuisance.

Zibolski is also calling for higher fines for traffic violations and additional support from the state legislature to address the problem.
