One of the Atlanta Police Department’s most wanted men was caught while on a jet ski on Lake Allatoona. Police were looking for Steven Oboite, 31, in connection with the disappearance of a woman in July 2022.

Jeanette Jackson never imagined Oboite’s arrest would take place at Lake Allatoona.

“To hang out on Lake Allatoona, it tells me you had no intention of ever surrendering,” Jackson said.

Oboita was wanted in the disappearance of Jackson’s daughter, Allahnia Lenoir. Lenoir was last seen in a Midtown apartment complex in July 2022. Her body was never found.

Atlanta police say Oboite and another man, Diante Reynolds, are charged with her murder.

A third man, Nicholas Hendrickson, is accused of helping dispose of her body.

Reynolds and Hendrickson were arrested.

Obiate was on the run until last weekend. He was arrested on Lake Allatoona Saturday afternoon in Bartow County.

“Hearing that he got busted for having fun on jet skis is even harder to swallow,” Jackson said.

The Department of Natural Resources says game wardens tried to pull him over for a no-wake violation, but he took off, abandoned the jetski on the shore and ran into the woods. Game wardens tracked him down and arrested him.

“He’s on a boat ride and he knows he’s got warrants and his friends are in jail, he doesn’t care about anybody, he’s having a great time,” Jackson said.

Obiate faces multiple charges in Bartow County, including BUI, obstruction and boat traffic violation.

He will eventually be sent to Atlanta to face charges there.

Jackson says he still needs the most important question answered.

“Tell me where my daughter is. Tell me what you did with her. Tell me where you made her disappear, because she disappeared off the face of the earth,” Jackson said.
