Man arrested after breaking into apartment, violating no-contact order in Marion

A man is in custody after a call reported a burglary in Marion Tuesday morning.

Marion Police say they received the call at 5:35 a.m. reporting the incident in the 1400 block of Meadowview Drive.

When they arrived, the subject, later identified as 32-year-old Nathan Dampier, had entered the apartment in violation of the no-contact order and barricaded himself inside.

After about two hours of negotiations, Dampier emerged and was taken into custody.

He was taken to the Linn County Correctional Center and charged with the no contact order and 4th degree criminal mischief.

Dampier was arrested near the same address in November for forcing his girlfriend into her bedroom and threatening her with a pellet gun and a knife.

He was charged with 3rd degree kidnapping, domestic abuse, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and obstructing emergency communications.
